Finally got all my language books in one place. Had to take pictures.

Hard for me to walk by and not pick up a random book. Stupid wanderlust. ;)

For a second I thought that someone had entered my home (moved the piles of books from the floor/table to the shelves) and photographed everything. No, we don't have exactly the same books, but there were a few matches among the TY books from the 90s, plus the J.R.R. Tolkien/Dan Brown theme...

It's great to read that you are getting settled again! I am sure that Boston will be awesome for homeschooling.

Thanks for sharing your language shelf. It is really fun to look at the photos. The tag #shelfie is one of my favorite Instagram tags, so out of curiosity I just checked to see what came up for #languageshelfie and there is only one post with that tag, which kind of surprised me. But there are quite a few tagged as #languagebooks. In case you can't tell, I love looking at photos of books :)

No homeschooling in our future. My daughter really wanted to go to the local high school. I advised her: "You know your mom values a well thought out argument. Make your case." She did, and mom agreed. So now we're going to be members of the PTO. ;)

My Esperanto is going well, but not much else. This move will apparently never end. Had to spend Mon-Wed last week going to pick up the car, which meant all day driving and then falling asleep immediately at night. Little to no reading. I haven't done the homework for Middle Egyptian for two Sundays in a row. I'm still reading the text, but haven't had any time to do the work. I hope to be able to do the next homework, due on 19 August.

And I think I'm gonna have to go to my Instagram, post the language shelf books and tag it #languageshelfie ;)

Wow, I'm in shock. Like... this happened in the real world? I can't remember the last time someone was convinced by a logical argument! :(

OK, then I will add #languageshelfie as a tag to follow, lol.

I hope your daughter enjoys her new school and that the PTO is a good experience for you and your wife. I spent 16 years as a PTO parent before becoming a homeschool parent. Both gigs have been great :)

Wow no more homeschooling? I'm sure that'll be a really big change.. it maybe not since you were down to one. Maybe it feels like a natural transition (if slightly unexpected timing). There's a small part of me ready to give up the homeschooling gig myself as I watch all my friends planning what to do with all their free time starting next week.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Did a bunch of Croatian GLOSS this week. Reading and listening. Getting my ears back.

Wife and I signed up for an introductory Spanish class. Starts September something (16th?) and runs 10 weeks. Should be a good refresher. She and I both took Spanish back in the 1980s.

Continuing my Esperanto reading with William Auld's book Pajleroj kaj stoploj: elektitaj prozaĵoj, a wonderful book with lots of level C1 writings.

How things change in just a few days.

DD #2, child #4, just went to see the guidance counselor today to get her schedule. Her initial plan to take Spanish has ended; due to some scheduling issues, she can't take Spanish I, but had the choice of German or Latin. She chose German. She's happy about it.

So the wife and I thought: Why not work on German too? We both had studied German in the past. I had at one point a 2 in listening and a 1+ in reading. My wife's reading was miles beyond that: She has read all the HPs in German as well as The Hobbit and all three volumes of LotR, all without a dictionary. Our daughter will be in good hands.

Our DD asked "Do you think German is harder than Russian?" The wife and I both responded (Dolby-like) "No!" When she heard German had fewer cases and doesn't have motion verbs a la Russian, she was so excited. We'll see how this goes.

In other news: Continuing my E-o reading and listening, daily. Middle Egyptian is progressing...slowly. And still working on getting my vocab back in BCS.

OMG, OMG, OMG!

Duolingo incubator now is showing Navajo. Add that to Hawaiian and there are two indigenous languages of the Americas that I have wanted to learn for so long.

Damn you wanderlust!
