L-R'ing HP2 in German is going well. Class as well. Just started week 6 yesterday. Teacher submitted her mid-term report on me and said I'm now at the 1+ level in speaking, listening and reading. I'd love for that to be true. I hope it is true. I'd be very, very happy to get that score at the end of 10 weeks!

I told the teacher I want to start working on stuff for the OPI, so one morning when the other student was at a medical appointment, she ran me through a practice OPI. Felt better than I thought it would. We'll see. For now, I'm working up the parts of FORTA (Family, Occupation, Recreation, Travel, About.me) compositions, which she is reviewing and correcting. Then I'll memorize them.

Week 6 went well, although my laptop failed a couple times. Three years for a Chromebook I guess was enough, so I bought a new laptop. Windows this time. Don't really like it that much, but that's because I hate Windows always forcing me to use Edge and Bing.

Got the newer (5th ed) German for Reading Knowledge which I like. Mostly because it is lacking in all my wife's dogears and folded pages. HP2 also going well, and over half done. L-R'ing a chapter or two a day. I'll be done by next weekend. Then I'll do it again, but I think I'll listen L2 and read L1.

I have been using only Linux for years, but recently I received from my university laptop with Windows. There was no problem in installing Firefox and making it a default browser. I even cut the Edge icon from the status bar.

Yes, as cjareck says you should be able to change the default browser. The really annoying thing is when you install from scratch, and it forces you to use OneDrive synchronisation.

Still hating the laptop. I may turn it back in. I've got 90 days. I think I may just go back to a Chromebook.

Week 7 of German. Looks like my DLPT will be second week of June. OPI last week of May.

Back to Esperanto after that, despite it being impractical.

Holy crap! Been a while. Seven Radioclare posts. (I count my LLORG days by Clare's posts...don't ever stop, Clare, please.)

German class is continuing. Some would even say, dragging. ;) Instructor uses way too much English, and I kind of phase out when she does that.

Two more weeks and then back to Esperanto reading.

That really made me laugh because I actually had a day this week where I nearly couldn't be bothered to post anything, and then I forced myself to do it anyway in case anyone noticed I missed a day

Been doing LR (L2-R1) of HP2 again. Chapter a day and that'll take me to my Listening DLPT at the end of the month. Don't have much faith of anything over a 1 on Listening. Maybe maybe maybe a 1+ or 2 in Reading. I've found that 8 weeks full-time is about as much as I can take of this virtual stuff. Unfortunately, this course is 10 weeks long.

German is fun and all, but I still would have rather done BCS like I first applied for. This is a once in a career opportunity, unfortunately. Will still try and get BCS up to 1/1/1 on my own so that I can get some of the part-time after-work training that is on offer.

Went to Savers today. It's basically like a Salvation Army, lots of great used stuff. Books too. Today I found three language books!
German Review and Reference Grammar, by Krauss.
Mozart by J.W. Dyck, an easy reader.
Italian Stories, a Dual-Language book, edited by Robert Hall.

Each just $2.99!

Had a great get-together today with Xenops, PfifltriggPi and lichtrausch today in downtown Boston. Last met these folks in 2019. Lots of language talk. So nice to be in a group of fellow language geeks!
