Family still in town, but gone tomorrow. Russian study will be more focused when they leave. Still, I'd rather they be here for all time! (I'm not one of those dads who dreams/dreamed of the days when the kids would be out of the house. I miss the noise!)
I had thought about reading the Bible over a year, but in Esperanto! But I'm already bored. Really, it just takes up too much time when I could be reading.
I'm also considering changing my Russian L-R novel to Пробуждение Левиафана (Leviathan Wakes, by James SA Corey). I've read The Martian (my current L-R) a couple times in English and Russian, but I've only read Leviathan Wakes in English (although I had started reading the Russian edition a couple times, just never got very far).
Been listening to the podcasts Что это было and Как это по-русски. Like them both. Listened a couple times to a delightful episode where the podcast creator asked her colleagues about what New Years songs they remember fondly. Very nice and great, off the cuff Russian in that episode. (If interested, here it is: Феномен новогодних песен.)

That's impressive. Are you just a really fast reader or are there some other factors?

I just worked out you were quoting a post from December! I was thinking 87 books and we're only on the 6th of January!

That would have been fast even for my reading speed.

Pretty fast reader, but I also fit in reading in places most people don't: driving to/from work; walking the dog; when I can't sleep at night. I of course mean audible books. But also ebooks or real books between sets in the gym (home gym, so I'm not putting anyone out) and many weekends all I do the first few hours after waking is read.

Re: IronMike's 2023 log: Fewer means better, right? (EO & RUS)
Planning on going to NASK this year. Paid for it last year, but then our move happened that very week, and I wouldn't do that to my wife. (I wouldn't be typing this now because she'd have killed me!)
And this time, they're holding a Translation class prior to NASK. Right up my alley! I've been translating my favorite Eo book, Mi Stelojn Jungis al Revado (I hang stars onto my dreams...or smthg like that), slowly but surely. I really think this class is made for me!

Re: IronMike's 2023 log: Fewer means better, right? (EO & RUS)
Finishing up a week-long Russian course on Science & Technology. Hopefully it'll help me out with the DLPT next month. Scary, long-ass articles. The one today was on quantum computing. Jeez, the vocab.
The instructor did have us start watching Лучше чем люди/Better than us. Basically, the Russian version of Humans. Pretty good so far. Main actor is from The Sniffer. And his son's played by the actor from To The Lake. So far, I like the show. Not that I need another show to watch, but at least it's in Russian.

In Namibia now and heard one of the click languages in action. Had to bolt to catch my transportation, but next time I hear it, I'll stop and ask the speakers which one it is. Sounded so cool!

Re: IronMike's 2023 log: Fewer means better, right? (EO & RUS)
Back from Namibia; the First Lady's trip was a success!
The language I heard turned out to be Demara/Nama. It has 5 clicks. Only one of which I can replicate. Met a very nice woman named Susan who spent 15 minutes trying to teach me the clicks. Unsuccessfully. Even when I got the one right, I couldn't follow it with a consonant or vowel. Yikes.
While there, besides Nama, I heard Afrikans, German, English, French, Russian, and Italian. It was wonderful.
