German class is done. Gott. Sei. Dank. Too much Zoom.
DLPT this coming week. Hoping for 1+/1+, but will be okay with 1/1. We'll see.
Looking forward to reading an Eo novel and then slowly bringing back my BCS.

Re: My Scanner Life. IronMike's 2021 log (EO, DEU, RUS, BCS?)
DLPT over the last two days. Listening first, and as usual I had to warn them to not tell me what I got. They still tried to give me my score. But I ran away!
This morning the Reading. Felt good for longer than expected, but the last bit, 12 or so questions, obviously the level 3 (C1) stuff. Totally lost. Just picked random answered and got the hell out of there.
I wish I had tried them! I got a 1+ in Reading. I wonder if I was 1 question or a bunch away from 2?
And somehow I got a 2 in Listening! I deal feel pretty good in that test for way too long. It was weird. But I never thought I would get a 2!
Ironically, in 1992, when the Air Force finally let us take DLPTs in any language, I took the German DLPT. I was 6 months out of Berlin and managed a....wait for it....2 in Listening and 1+ in Reading! Granted, that was a DLPT III and the one I took this week was a DLPT5. Two different animals altogether!
Now on to my Esperanto novel.

Re: My Scanner Life. IronMike's 2021 log (EO, DEU, RUS, BCS?)
Tonight I started my slow reintroduction to BCS. Here's my plan:
BCS Textbook by Ronelle Alexander & Ellen Elias-Bursac: I'll go through this book, specifically the Serbian side.
Hippocrene's Croatian, for the Croatian side of the house.
I'll work one lesson in one book, then one lesson in the other. After about 5 lessons in each, I'll move on to a book of some sort, maybe L-R something. I've got plenty to choose from besides Harry Potter. I'll also start the news and podcasts.
In other news, reading Tiu Toskana Septembro.

I got the Hippocrene Croatian textbook today in the mail (thanks @RadioClare!). Looks so good. Almost done with lesson 1 of the Ronelle Alexander BCS, then I'll move to the Hippocrene, lesson 1.

Looking forward to reading about how you get on I remember really enjoying the Hippocrene book.
Also let me know if you manage to track down any Serbian or Croatian podcasts! I've never really had much success on that front.

Most definitely will!
Finished Serbian lesson 1 today. Will start the Hippocrene tomorrow. Downloaded the free audio to go with it. Looking forward to it!

Re: My Scanner Life. IronMike's 2021 log (EO, DEU, RUS, BCS?)
Finished Hippocrene Croatian's lesson 1 yesterday. Am in Stowe, VT, today. Didn't want to bring the huge BCS text, so brought the Croatian. Lesson 2 tomorrow. Today, after we got to our hotel, I looked through the first chapter of Razgovarajte A2-B1. Some good little stories; I had about 70% understanding. I missed this language.

Still going through the Serbian and Croatian. Also reading Medallions in Esperanto. Almost done. Very sad. Polish peoples' experience under the Nazis. Oy.
