IT people produce such words on a daily basis. This one has to do with the introduction of Google Drive.

Ah, I loved watching the Gaidai films when I was growing up.

I would recommend any of the following if you have not already seen them:
- Kavkazskaya Plennitsa
- Ivan Vasilyevich Menyayet Professiyu
- Brilliantovaya Ruka
- Na Deribasovskoi Horoshaya Pogoda, ili na Braiton-Bich Opyat' Idut Dozhdi

Beautiful songs in the first three

I'm so glad I learnt to read Cyrillic, just so that I could understand all those social media related words :ugeek: :ugeek:

The rusklish or whatever one might want to call it drives me mad. If I use the proper Russian term for something IT related, often Russians don’t understand because they only know the English words. When they use an English term I don’t understand because the pronunciation is so completely different.

I mean why say упдатиться instead of обновляться?

Whenever my teacher, or any Russian for that matter, russifies an English word, I look at them, repeat the word, and say, "Старое русское слово, да?" ;)

Just a random observation, but as a BCS language learner I found it interesting that I understood this as a lot of Russian goes over my head. To say the same thing in Serbian would be something like "стара руска реч, да?". The word "слово" in Serbian means "letter" so based on the context I figured it meant word in Russian :)

There are plenty of false friends btwn these two languages. Look up понос and compare it to Serbian's ponos. ;)

Pretty good example there :) I don't think slovo however would be considered a false friend as they're dealing with a similar concept and likely both derive from a similar root way back when.

EDIT: Also just realized you know BCS. Cool :)
