Re: My Scanner Life. IronMike's 2022 log (EO,RUS,BCS,EGY)

Penultimate class tonight. Read through 10 articles, very fun and interesting stuff. But unsure this instructor has pushed me enough. Thankfully I've been reading some RFE/RL articles daily. I'm also listening to HRT's Dnevnik news, about 10-15 min of news run-down. Can't say I'm understanding 100%, but getting my ears attuned.

DLPTs next Tue and Wed. Still hoping for a 1 on Listening and 2 on Reading. We'll see.

Holy poop, that Reading DLPT killed me. I thought I had a chance at a 2, felt pretty good on some passages, but ended up with a 1+ (B1). ((

Listening tomorrow, and I'm going to really suck at that test!

Then I'll read an Esperanto novel. Then I'll start on Russian study. Russian DLPT/OPI coming up in February.

Wow, unbelievably I got a 1+ on the Listening DLPT today. I felt worse doing the Listening than the Reading yesterday and ended up with 1+/1+. I'm fine with that. Been 23 years since my 3/2+, back when I was using the language daily, so...understandable.

Now, finish the Esperanto novel then on to Russian. DLPT/OPI due in mid-February.

Started back to some Russian today, reading a few pages of a story and even listening to 10 minutes of Что это было? I've missed Russian.

Also about 35% done with Kvazaŭ ĉio dependus de mi. Very good so far!

Just about done (94%) with Kvazaux cxio dependus de mi, then I'm going to move on to Ангели и демоны/Angels and Demons, and stick to Russian books till my test (except for the next Esperanto Sumoo). I'll L-R the Dan Brown.

Yep, finished the Esperanto book. Feel free to read my review here. (Shameless blog plug.) I've paused before reading the Russian book by reading a Don DeLillo book whose characters have an obsession with languages and dead languages. How could I not read that book?

Also had the first input to the new 6 week challenge: AI6WC! w00t! Thanks Cavesa!

Still working the Russian. Missed a couple days due to family being in town for the holiday. Worth it.

L-Ring The Martian, listening in Russian, reading in English. Will also start on 1 Jan to read the Bible over a year, but will read it in Esperanto.

In other news, I'm about to finish my 87th book of the year. No, not all in foreign language, but I did read 3 in a foreign language and 10 translated. And polyglot fitness challenge-wise, I hit all my language goals, but none of my fitness goals. Oh well.
