Re: Whodathunkitz log Cebuano Spanish Esperanto

Today was last exam for my techy quals (for now).

These are Microsoft certs of MCSE and MCSA.

So just over a month for the study and exams.

Mainly watching loads of stuff at double speed.

Last exam was about 30-40 hours study from two substantial courses plus smaller ones. Then at the end mock exams. I think of it as a Venn diagram. Watching each course adds some certainty to what needs to be learnt and likely to be tested.

All the course authors are guessing at the areas and questions. Still there was at least one question on a subject I didn't know existed and had never heard mentioned before.

My recent language learning has helped me in thinking of better ways to beat this kind of test.

Two days before I have to submit a university assignment. Then back to learning for some more techy exams.

I'll be doing spanish every week as well.

Gonna be a while before I can do free language learning.

Speaking a bit more cebuano last few days.

Doing techy revision for a month, probably more. Later this week I'll do some Spanish and Language/culture course.

Speaking a bit more cebuano in the house but no study.

Consistently speaking more cebuano at home so kiddo can't understand.

Working on techy exams. Passed 4 out of 4 first time. I don't think this is typical. Plenty of forums talking about multiple attempts.

Again, language learning techniques have helped and given confidence.

Will do some spanish coursework soon. Will have to check when assignments are due.

Bit of a kerfuffle at kid's school so discussing it with my wife in cebuano so kid doesn't understand. Quite challenging and we run the risk he will understand. But I'd be happy about that as then I'd know he's learnt more.

I have so much techy learning to do.

But after duolingo / readlang takeover discussion I tried out some duolingo Spanish STORIES and I quite liked them. Previously I didn't.

New job in London (mostly).

Techy learning needs to be done but not had much chance. Last one for a while maybe. Or might have to do a few more.

Spanish
Train journey good for duolingo and 10000 sentences. I was already gold on Duolingo Spanish and i just do 10 pts or keep gold. Done quite a few Duolingo stories. Done 100+ more sentences on 10000 sentences. Up to 577 I think. Mostly find it easy with a few trickier idioms. Submitted Spanish oral recording to uni.

Train journey not good for anything else except apps.

Cebuano
Speaking and texting quite a lot with my wife. She often starts in cebuano and this is so different to before. This happens even though I'm not actively learning.

I have been playing with language tools on new PC.

Word online / immersive for speaking and splitting out verbs, nouns etc (by colour).

Google docs for input. It got most of first paragraph I tried from Spanish pride and prejudice. Not so good on second.

Ok on numbers if I say numero 43 rather than just 43.

I tried a simple passage.

Source
"Hola! Mi nombre es Ana. Tengo veinticinco años. Vivo en Miami, Florida con mi esposo y dos hijos. Tengo un hijo en kínder y una hija en primer grado. Ambos van a una escuela pública. Mi esposo es mecánico. Los fines de semana, él trabaja en un restaurante lavando platos. El restaurante usualmente tiene más clientes los fines de semana, entonces necesitan gente extra para lavar platos."

Recognised this
"Hola mi nombre es Ana tengo 25 años vivo en Miami Florida con mi esposo y dos hijos tengo un hijo en Kinder y una hija en primer grado ambos van a una escuela pública mi esposo es mecánico los fines de semana trabaja en un restaurante lavando platos a las 11:11 mente tiene más clientes los fines de semana entonces necesitan gente extra para lavar platos"

My emphasis on the only bit wrong. I'm guessing this is partly due to the text being well indexed by google, but even so I'm quite amazed!

Techie learning.

I have an exam that I haven't put enough work into as I'm unenthused. I don't expect to use it much compared to others. You really need to have an overview of a technology for designing solutions or a deep knowledge to do it.

I might be interested in another 2 techs but feel burnt out.

I'd much rather do some language learning. Spanish or ceb. I feel I need to learn some more cebuano to advance with domestic conversation.
