Ukrainian :
The future tense seems to be just as simple as the past, with western dialects making it simpler still. Ukrainian is a very odd language in terms of how its grammar is structured : the nominal, pronominal and adjectival inflection makes Latin look simple but the verbal inflection is almost as simple as that of English. I shall continue progressing however, and no doubt I shall encounter a grammatical phenomenon which will make me change my opinion.

Latin :
I read Eclogue 5 of Virgil. It was not my favourite, but still good reading practice. I also had my class today in which we continued "translating" the Aeneid. I was not called upon and, honestly, did not pay much attention.

Ukrainian :
I read the section on imperatives in my grammar. The formation of the imperative seems somewhat confusing to me, honestly. It seems somewhat hard to predict from the infinitive stem. On the other hand, the actual inflections are quite easy, so that is nice.

Italiano :
Oggi ho letto "Le case" di Cesare Pavese. Non m'ha piaciuto. Era più difficile che lo qual ho letto ieri, ed anche molto meno interessante. Mi sembrava un po' come le opere peggiore d'Albert Camus. C'era la stessa banalità ma senza il potere di discrezione ed il talento verbale che rendono Camus sopportabile, al meno a volte.

A very busy day today :

Greek :
My Greek lesson was interrupted by a failure of the Internet this morning, which was rather annoying. On the other hand, I do not much like the lessons, so perhaps not much was lost. I have learned pretty much nothing this entire term and am somewhat dreading another term like this. However, at the end of this academic year, I will have fully satisfied my Greek requirement for my diploma, which is nice.

Latin :
I did not have my Latin course today, as I instead took a midterm exam. I do not really know how well I did. A large portion of the exam had nothing much to do with actually reading or commenting upon the Latin but rather with all the hyper-specific technical grammatical labels modern classicists have invented and which are taught by Latin teachers in place of teaching actual Latin. I cannot rattle off 50 "uses of the Ablative" but I can use the case in my own speech and writing, understand it when I am reading and actually read Latin comfortably (most of the time). Modern universities teach the former, but I would much rather have the latter.

Italiano :
Ho letto "Pesci grossi, pesci piccoli" d'Italo Calvino.

Ukrainian :
Today's reading was a basic description of verbal aspect. Did it make some sense? Yes. Was it less complicated than I thought? Certainly. Will I ever be able to actually use it properly in conversation? Absolutely not.

Greek :
I put the next lesson's vocabulary into Memrise. If I remember correctly, this coming Thursday I do not have my Greek class, thus giving me more time to do and learn this lesson. I certainly hope so.

Ukrainian :
Today's subject was the passive form. This, as one would expect based on the rest of the verbal grammar, was not very complex. There is, in fact, not much in the way of dedicated passive inflections. What I did find interesting, though was how both Romance and Germanic elements. One can express the passive either through the use of the reflexive particle -ся such as in the sentence "Ці слова не вживаються." (These words are not used.), which makes me think of French (Ces mots ne se disent pas.), or by simply using the third person plural "Говорять, що..." (It is said that...) which makes me think of the English use of the "impersonal they".

Français :
Je lus chapitre V de livre II de tome I des Misérables. C'était aussi très court. Je lus aussi chapitre XL du Comte de Monte-Cristo. J'ai vraiment terminé la section italienne.

Italiano :
Ho letto "L'angoscia" d'Alberto Moravia. La trama era molto strana. Questo detto, m'ha piaciuto molto lo stile dello scrittore. Le sue discrezioni erano magnifiche. Suppongo che m'ha piaciuto in generale, ma non sono completamente certo.

Ukrainian :

Another short section on the use of the gerund today. Not very remarkable. I am approaching the end of my grammar, which is exciting.

Français :
On commença à discuter Les misérables dans mon cours de littérature française aujourd'hui. En addition, je lus chapitre XLI du Comte de Monte-Cristo et chapitre VI de livre II de tome I des Misérables.

Italiano :
Ho terminato il libro. Il racconto finale era "I passi sulle neve" di Mario Soldati ed era magnifico. M'ha piaciuto lo stile della scrittura, il vocabolario ed anche la trama, anche sé questa era triste. Era anche il più difficile, però valeva lo sforzo.

Ukrainian :
Today's grammatical reading was on the conditional. I already knew the basics, but apparently there is a different word for "if" depending on whether the sentence is in the indicative or conditional, which was unexpected, although that does explain why the Memrise course I have been doing has given me so many words for "if".

Catalan :
I started Assimil Catalan today, since my Catalan has somewhat deteriorated, and I now have received several book recommendations from this forum. I shall be doing two lessons a day, since this is mostly just review, and then, I think, I will read the Parlons course after this. Today I did lessons one and two.

Français :
Aujourd'hui, je lus chapitre XLII du Comte de Monte-Cristo. En addition, je terminai livre II de tome I des Miserables. Le livre commence à m’intéresser vraiment.
