More grammar today in the Teach Yourself book. I also copied another text from my book of easy texts.

Latin :
Today I read carmen 30 of Catullus, skipped 31 and 32 as I had already read them and read carmen 33.

Català :
Avui vaig perseguir la meva lectura del meu llibre.

Français :
Aujourd'hui je lus le chapitre II du livre XI du tome IV des Misérables.

Je suppose que Misérables est un livre très long? Je ne l'ai jamais lu. Depuis combien de temps vous le lisez? (ou 'le lisez-vous'?)

Oui, c'est un livre très long et, en plus, c'est un livre qui se fait traîner beaucoup : pour exemple, j'ai aussi récemment lu Le Conte de Monte-Cristo, qui est, plus ou moins, également long, mais cela ne m'a point paru si long, mais beaucoup des Misérables est très ennuyeux. Il y a des sections très belles mais aussi des digressions et des harangues sociales et politiques que je n'aime point.

Aujourd'hui, je poursuivi l'écriture de mon papier sur Maria Chapdelaine et je lus le chapitre III du livre XI du tome IV des Misérables.

Català :

Given that chapter 18 is the last chapter of the Teach Yourself book, today I started reviewing from chapter 1, and finished copying a text from my other book.

Latin :
I have now read through carmen 44 of Catullus. Both 42 and 44 are quite funny.

Français :
Je terminai le livre XI du tome IV des Misérables et j'en lus les deux premiers chapitres du livre XII.

¿Escrito por Rafeal Lapesa? Lo tengo también pero no todavía no lo leí. Miré a varias páginas y creo que puedo entenderlo. Estoy curioso de como lo encuentras, tiene muchas páginas. Más de dos mil, si recuerdo bien. Yo no recuerdo bien, hay sobre 600 páginas. Pero el libro es tan grueso como otros que tengo que tienen casi mil páginas.

Sí, este libro. Es verdaderamente bastante ancho pero lo que he leído me ha gustado mucho. Hoy, he leído el secundo capítulo que habla de la lengua latina en España y las influencias griegas que se encuentran en el castellano.

Creo que acabas de inspirarme a empezar este libro pronto (y el hecho de que consiste en menos páginas que había creído antes). Creo que te gustaría este libro: Ad Infinitum: A biography of Latin. Se trata de la historia de la lengua latina y el autor también ha escrito otro libro sobre las lenguas importantes a través de la historia documentada. No sé si hay ediciones en español, pero si existan los leería de nuevo. ¿Has leído otros libros sobre la historia de varias lenguas (o de la lingüística historial)?
