Putting these progress bars in my signature, plus being active on the forum, is brutal right now. "Omg, I want my progress bars to look more impressive! I'd better get cracking!" And it looks like the writing progress bar isn't even going to be visible at all until I hit at least 2,000 words. Gah!

So... this seems to be a good "mind hack" for myself.

How did you get the progress bar? Where do you find it or get it?

Qué casualidad, que no he escrito aquí en casi un año entero exactamente. Y por "buena" razón: no estudiaba ni practicaba mis idiomas casi en absoluto. Instead of me parece in this context I think you could also say me resulta ser.

I am not a native, but "desbaratar" seems out of place here. I think it is mostly used in the meaning of "destroy" or "fall into disarray". In your context I would probably use "desviar".

I use a table, with each paragraph on its own row so that they line up even when the translations are slightly different lengths. The forum syntax is very cumbersome, but I care enough to bother. Here's what the BBCode looks like:

And here's how it displays:

Annoyingly, if you try to put any linebreaks in between the markup to make it easier to edit, you will get a bunch of empty space above the table. So it has to all be one very very long line.

It automatically figures out the width of each column; there's no way for you to control it, alas.

For ease of use, I keep a draft post with my current languages, so I can go to the Manage Drafts page and copy-paste the BBCode each time I want to use it. (Do not use the "Load Draft" feature, because that will delete your draft-template!)

If you use a text editor like Notepad++, or Vi or Emacs, etc. You can just write all the markup with all the normal column markers with tabs and spaces so it looks OK, then do a search and replace all whitespace (returns, tabs, spaces, etc) with a space. Which means you get it all on one line without the hassle of actually doing it on one line.

Sure, and I do that when I happen to post on my laptop. But if I'm on my phone, I don't have my fancy tools. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And anyway, I wanted to give instructions for folks who aren't programmers and don't use fancy text editors. If you have better tools, you'll know how to adapt the basic instructions; the reverse situation is often not true.
