This week has been much better - I've been really tired all week so I haven't really been going out much, which always helps! But I am intrigued by how much my language balance shifts each week. I never seem to be able to find a decent balance of French and Russian - one of them always gets shunted out. In some ways, this isn't a bad thing - Russian is and should be my priority for the time being - but I would like to get a little more even.

One of the issues in the last few weeks has been that I haven't really been reading at all (even in English). I have always read while on trains and buses, but because I've started cycling everwhere I can, I haven't really been reading. I need to find an alternative slot, that I designate as 'reading time', but my schedule changes a lot each week.

Russian
- 16 hours.
- Read: A few pages here and there, but nothing that has added up.
- Watched: A stupid amount of OUAT.
- Wrote: 794 words - it's a start again! I am a quarter of the way through the Output Challenge, which is obviously pretty behind, but probably better than I was expecting! Hopefully I can push forward with it.
- Grammar: A little with my teachers
- 2 Italki lessons

French
- 2 hours of French
- Read: Nope.
- Watched: Several episodes of Brooklyn 99.

Spanish
I started watching Gilmore Girls in Spanish. I had to speak to someone in Spanish this week, and while I understood her perfectly, every time I answered, I automatically reverted to Russian. Which feels like a good sign that my Russian isn't actively getting worse, it wasn't very helpful for Spanish! I definitely still need subtitles for Gilmore Girls (and sadly I don't have Spanish subs, only English) but I do understand better than I would have expected.

Phew, Gilmore Girls is challenging stuff. Super fast jokes all the time! I usually start with something easier, like some action series that I can get even without understanding everything. I found Stargate hilarious in Spanish :D

:) Well that makes me feel better! I was watching Daredevil for that reason, but I just found that I couldn't convince myself to watch it at the end of the day. I like lighthearted shows, where everyone is nice to each other! (This cuts down my options a lot...)

I started listening to French songs when I go running, but the playlist I put together is pretty varied and therefore isn't a great choice for working out to. I currently only run once a week, but as I signed up to a 10K in October, I will probably be aiming for at least two runs a week until then, so I might as well get some language practise in. I work out quite a lot, but I don't think anything else will really lend itself to language exposure.

Does anyone have any suggestions of fast pace songs in French/Spanish/Russian? I like pop generally, and a little American country music, but I do also listen to some rock. I'm not particularly interested in rap or metal.

Seeing as how nobody's thrown in any Russian, might as well. I don't really keep up with Russian music these days, so if you'll excuse it skewing a bit retro:

ДДТ - Просвистела

Машина Времени - Проводница

Аквариум - Стаканы

Фабрика - Зажигают огоньки

Леонид Агутин - Полночи (the closest-sounding thing to country I could think of :) )

Ленинград - Дельта реки Невы
