2022 - Summary of week 44

One book finished - Blunda hårt (English: Shut your eyes tight) by John Verdon. The Tuesday group met for an evening of Shadow Hunters. I was the first one to die during the first game. The second time, I was part of the winning team.

Friday evening I listened to Fauré's Requiem (sang in Swedish, but with the Latin text to the left!).

GA: A friend and I skimmed some Irish content on Youtube, including this one about Oileán Thoraí (Tory Island):

IT: News in Slow Italian - series. Also something called Easy Italian.

Oh! I see there's also an audio version of this. That's good. I bookmarked it.

I found it here:
https://www.radio-italiane.it/podcasts (Iztruzione section, page 3)

Comprehension is so-so. (I think that a lot of the Easy [language] is a bit fast.)

Thanks. Since I've been drifting from Spanish towards Italian I've wanted a podcast source.

2022 - Summary of week 45

Two books finished - Överlevarna (English: The Survivors) by Jane Harper (her fourth murder mystery), and Potatis by Stefan Ekengren - history of the potato and more recipes than you need. I cancelled two evening activities in order to solve some other things (still not anywhere close to my goal). This meant, no Tuesday games and no Friday music session.

FR: Inspired by some of DaveAgain's recent posts, I listened to some French podcasts.

IT: More Easy Italian.

2022 - Summary of week 46

One book finished - Passageraren 06:20 (English: The 6:20 Man) by David Baldacci (his first book in his tenth (!) series). This week I joined the Tuesday group again for a game of Mansions of Madness. Scenario: Chapel Down Manor. Investigators: Sister Mary, Kate Winthrop, Carolyn Fern, Tommy Muldoon and Wilson Richards. All got decent use of their special abilities. Sister Mary was wounded and Wilson Richards became insane. Despite this, investigation complete!

A few encounters (IRL and online) inspired me to do some wing chun. It's been a while.

For a couple of days I've spent time preparing for some major changes (not too different from Iversen's post here). While bringing some order to the chaos a.k.a. my apartment, I listened to music on the sound system - for the first time in six months. (For curious minds out there: Iron Maiden - Dance of Death, A Matter of Life and Death and the live album Death on the Road).

IT: More Easy Italian.

I listened to a couple of episodes of Easy Italian. I really enjoyed them. But I agree it's not easy! They speak at a normal conversational pace.

2022 - Summary of week 47

Almost in time. Three books finished! Det rosa huset by Marie Olsson Nylander - an interesting photo book about how the author (and decorator) bought a house in Sicily and then the family renovated it. Kaffe och cigaretter (German: Kaffee und Zigaretten) by Ferdinand von Schirach (lawyer and writer) - this is a collection of short stories. Finally Romanens segertåg by Ingrid Elam (journalist, professor of the Faculty Office for Fine and Applied Arts, Gothenburg University). Literary history.

Again I had to cancel the gaming activities for practical and logistic reasons.

IT: More Easy Italian.

2022 - Summary of week 48

In time. One book finished: Bortbytingen by Anders de la Motte. This is the first book in a new series. Persons are missing. Or have they been kidnapped? Miniature figures appear in a model railway landscape. They remind the investigating team of the missing people...

No games this week either. I have too much on my plate (see previous posts). Still, there's a tiny chance that I'll join next week.

IT: More Easy Italian.

2022 - Summary of week 49

In time. No book finished, but one started: Spindeln - the ninth Lars Kepler book about Joona Linna. Very good so far. (I've read one third.) Last game night for this year. This Tuesday we played Mind MGMT. I liked it a lot.

The workweek ended with a music session* - also the last one this year. (And considering the chaos around me, possible the last one in a long time.)

IT: More Easy Italian.

* Perhaps 4.5 hours of intensive playing, and a sore right shoulder the day after...
