2023 - Summary of week 2
Not much (language-related or other) happened during this week either. Logistics highlights this week was the pile of Inside Kung-Fu magazines and the majority of my collection of martial arts books (acquired between, say, 1984 and 2003). Sore muscles again.
ES: Still La isla del tesoro by Robert Louis Stevenson. It struck me that ordinals higher than 10th weren't taught when I learned the language. (We used the cardinals for dates, say, el catorce de mayo.) It didn't come as a shock when the narrator said capítulo decimocuarto etc, but when it was time for capítulo vigesimoprimero... Of course, I know the term vigesimal (I talked with a co-worker about the Danish vigesimal system the other week), but still...

2023 - Summary of week 3
Not much (language-related or other) happened during this week either. Logistics highlights this week: the tape for Teach Yourself Turkish (I don't know which generation), a book+cassette course called Portugisiska för nybörjare, Colloquial Danish (including tape), Братья Карамазовы (The Karamazov Brothers), Ĉinaj mitoj... that book was in a pile of memorabiblia from the Esperanto weekend in Berlin (September 2014).
Sore muscles galore.
ES: I finished La isla del tesoro and started La maquina exploradora del tiempo by H. G. Wells.

2023 - Summary of week 4
Book discoveries this week: Elementary Cantonese vol I and II (by Sidney Lau). At work, I ran into an interesting feature which enables a catalogue record to play music incipits, based on data entered as Plaine & Easie code. I have good ABC notation skills (as some here know), so this was an interesting find.
Friday ended with a music session - a real success (all things being relative...). Two long-distance friends joined us. Six and half hours of intense playing - most of us played multiple instruments. (That's musical polyglottery!) I went to bed 02:30 and woke up with a terrible headache which didn't go away until Saturday afternoon.
ES: More La maquina exploradora del tiempo.

2023 - Summary of week 5
No books finished, no foreign-language movies watched, no games played, no martial arts, some music (in solitude...) Lots of thinking and planning. In a few weeks I can hopefully relax.
At work I heard someone speak French. I also ran into an old music friend of mine, now living in Helsinki. When his kids appeared and I said "Terve!", he gave me a thumbs up and said "Good pronunciation!". (All things being relative... )
ES: More La maquina exploradora del tiempo.

2023 - Summary of week 6
Not much of anything besides... yes, the usual stuff. I did manage to join a music session, though. 4-5 hours. Headache the morning after, as expected.
A quick glance at a certain bookshelf showed some material for Kikongo, Cornish, Arabic, Italian, Mandarin, Dutch, Hindi...
ES: I finished La maquina exploradora del tiempo and started Aventuras de Masín (Tom) Sawyer by Mark Twain.

2023 - Summary of week 7
Another week of logistics. An interesting conversation with a new co-worker included Irish music, Ireland, and when I mentioned the summer school in Glencolmcille, I got the question - "So, is that....Gaelic? I'm doing the Irish Gaelic course on Duolingo!". The day after, they went by the information desk and bursted out - "Do you know Chinese as well!? ".
I have a feeling that I'll watch something in Chinese soon. Today I packed all of my DVDs, VHSs and VCDs (remember those?).
ES: I finished Aventuras de Masín (Tom) Sawyer and started Aventuras de Robinsón Crusoe by Daniel Defoe.

2023 - Summary of week 8
Last (full) week of logistics. Nothing read. There was a possibility to join a session Friday evening, but I gave the gang a notice of cancellation Thursday afternoon. In a moment of weakness, I joined anyway. But alas, no energy. I somehow predicted that. I need a break from now on. From a lot of things.
ES: More Aventuras de Robinsón Crusoe.

2023 - Summary of week 9
At last. I experienced the worst days (and nights) in a very long time. Now I can relax. I even finished a book during the weekend - Djävulspakten (FI: Kauna) by Max Seeck. This is the third book in a series about Jessica Niemi. I had planned to start+finish another book, but there was no time.
ES: More Aventuras de Robinsón Crusoe.

2023 - Summary of week 10
Catching up on reading. At work I used the little Russian I could remember in order to help a Ukrainian visitor. In a conversation with a neighbour I happened to mention Esperanto. To my surprise, the neighbour then asked: "Wasn't there another language called Ido?".
ES: I finished Aventuras de Robinsón Crusoe and started listening to Aventuras de Sherlock Holmes (by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle). Not any random adventures, but those very ones in the original Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
