2018 - Summary of week 33

Perhaps the most boring update in a long time.

CA: 16th week of Catalan - 15980 reps.

CS: Anki aloud. A little more than 150 cards per day. Nothing new. Maybe this week?

GD: 17th week of Gaelic - 16940 reps.

RU: I finished Genesis and started Exodus. Same narrator (I think). I can't say that I'm able to follow the story, but I wanted to hear more Russian. I'll probably go back to Ангелы и Демоны in a few days.

TN: Almost daily Memrise sessions.

YUE: Anki sentences aloud. ~120 cards per day. Nothing new here either.

2018 - Summary of week 34

CA: 17th week of Catalan - 16940 reps. I spent some time mining resources and found A la carta on the Catalan Radio website. I haven't checked all the 15 pages, but there seems to be at least two novels/series/radionovelas:
Incerta glòria
1714

Maybe I should give Catalan audio a try...

CS: Anki aloud. A little more than 150 cards per day. Nothing new. Plan for next week: Czech101 dialogues.

GD: 18th week of Gaelic - 17990 reps. I was thinking of having a look at An Litir Bheag, but became busy with other stuff.

RU: I finished Exodus, started (and finished) Ilya Frank's (audio) collection of short stories (Tales from Zaikina), and then went on to Ангелы и Демоны. It'll keep me busy for another week or two.

TN: Almost daily Memrise sessions. Things are falling into place little by little.

YUE: Anki sentences aloud. ~120 cards per day. Nothing new here either. Plan for next week: Cantonese101 dialogues.

I finished two crime novels in Swedish, and started a third one.

2018 - Summary of week 35

CA: 18th week of Catalan - 17990 reps. Nothing else.

CS: Anki aloud. A little more than 150 cards per day. No Czech101 dialogues.

GD: 19th week of Gaelic - 19040 reps. Nothing else.

RU: I've almost reached a third of Ангелы и Демоны. Another week or two. I've also read some more Ilya Frank stories (just a little more than ten left).

TN: Almost daily Memrise sessions. I reached and (for the most part of the week) maintained the 1st position with three short sessions (review+learn+review), none longer than five minutes.

YUE: Anki sentences aloud. ~120 cards per day. No Cantonese101 dialogues, but I read a lot of blog posts on studying with transcripts at Cantolounge.

I finished two crime novels in Swedish.

The TN memrise course can be a little tiring, but it is definitely worth the effort.

I think we’re all a little burned out on the Setswana Memrise course. That’s why there isn’t much competition for the top spot.

I dont know my fail rate, but it feels like I've done all these bua/buela and tla/tswela/tsena prompts a lot of times, while others stick immediately.

2018 - Summary of week 36

CA: 19th week of Catalan - 18890 reps. Still nothing else.

CS: Anki aloud. A little more than 150 cards per day. I bumped into two native speakers at work. You know you're a language introvert when... this happens and you don't even say a basic greeting although your brain is full of phrases.

GD: 20th week of Gaelic - 19940 reps. Nothing else. (But I got a postcard from a friend who recently visited Traigh Mor, Isle of Lewis.)

RU: More Ангелы и Демоны, but I had to take the Sunday off because a fever hit me like a truck.

TN: Daily Memrise sessions. Some shorter, some longer.

YUE: Anki sentences aloud. ~120 cards per day.

I finished another crime novel in Swedish.

2018 - Summary of week 37

CA: 20th week of Catalan - 19940 reps.

CS: Anki aloud. A little more than 150 cards per day. I listened to an old dialogue from CzechClass101.

GD: 21st week of Gaelic - 20990 reps. I also listened to some music with lyrics in the language.

RU: I finished reading the Ilya Frank material. I took nearly the whole week off due to my cold, but had regained energy for two walks with Ангелы и Демоны during the weekend.

TN: Daily Memrise sessions. Zenmonkey is in the lead.

YUE: Anki sentences aloud. ~120 cards per day. I listened to an old dialogue from CantoneseClass101.

I finished another crime novel in Swedish. One day at work, I was approached by a Russian visitor who had gotten my name from a mutual friend of ours: "He said you know tons of languages!" :ugeek:

2018 - Summary of week 38

CA: 21th week of Catalan - 20990 reps.

CS: Anki aloud. A little more than 150 cards per day. I continued listening to some of the old dialogues. Zenmonkey's Three Monkeys approach gave me some tools to work with.

GD: 22st week of Gaelic - 22040 reps.

RU: I'm almost done with Ангелы и Демоны.

TN: Daily Memrise sessions. This was a slightly more difficult week for me. I was stuck with reviews and almost couldn't catch up.

YUE: Anki sentences aloud. ~120 cards per day. Same approach as with Czech.

ZH: The AwesomeTTS preset which I've been using hasn't worked for some time now, so I had a look at another one which also had more voices to choose between. It worked perfectly.

I finished two crime novels in Swedish, plus Sounds Appealing by David Crystal. I cancelled a trip to the mainland and had a relaxed weekend instead.
