My planning for learning Italian and Japanese

Italian

1.- Assimil, Pimsleur and Hugo in 3 months. I think for Italian I'm going to focus heavily on Listening and Reading for this month.
2.- In August, as I'll be living in Italy I'm going to focus on Speaking and Listening.
3.- Super Challenge. Listening and Reading.
4.- In the future I might pick a more grammar-based book but I still don't know which one.

Japanese

1.- Learn again Hiragana and Katakana.
2.- Genki Books. 1 lesson per week. That would be 12 weeks (book 1) and 11 weeks (book 2)
3.- Nihongo Challenge Kanji N4-N5. I don't have problems with Kanji, but I do with the readings, so I want to start getting new vocabulary and the book is quite nice.
For the JLPT N5 has 11 lessons and 4 practical exams and a total of 110 kanji which I've planned to learn 3 lessons per week in 5 weeks.
For the JLPT N4 has 20 lessons and 7 practical exams and a total of 200 kanji, and I also wanted to learn 3 lessons per week in 9 weeks.
4.- Nihongo Challenge N4 Bunpo to Yomu. (Grammar and Reading)
Bunpo = 32 lessons. I have no clue how challenging this book would be, but I'll try to do 3 lessons per week.
Yomu = 15 lessons. Same as above, but doing 1 or 2 lessons per week, to finish it at the same time.
5.- Nihongo Challenge N4 Kotoba (Vocabulary). 32 lessons -> 4 per week (?).

This might be a slightly crazy plan to finish before December... But we'll see how it goes.

So from now on, I'm getting back to weekly goals and updates.

My goals for this week (even though it's already Wednesday):
  • IT: Assimil Lesson 0 to 9.
  • IT: Pimsleur: 9 units.
  • IT: Listening the audiobook and Reading at the same time HP e la pietra filosofale, 3 chapters.
  • IT: Watch Sailor moon dubbed in Italian 6 episodes.
  • JA: Learn Hiragana and Katakana
  • JA: Genki I. Lesson 1
  • JA: Kanji N4-N5: 3 lessons.
  • ZH: Read at least to page 50 on 等一個人咖啡
  • EN: Read Coffee Boy, Juliet takes a breath and Illuminae.

It's that I made a bet with some friends that we could get to a JLPT5 level this december
We don't plan to actually take the test, most likely we'll do the jcat online test. And I wanted to push myself to study as much as I can, even though I would most likely fail to achieve those goals hehe

You're so determined! :o
I often dream about the N5 exam, but I've never had a real study plan, so I've never tried.
Your planning is really inspiring.

Nah... It's not that impressive... I mean, I normally have big plans but then later slack off :/ and only get halfway or so... but still it's better than nothing hehe! I'm glad it's inspiring though!

My goals for last week:

  • IT: Assimil Lesson 0 to 9.
  • IT: Pimsleur: 9 units.
  • IT: Listening the audiobook and Reading at the same time HP e la pietra filosofale, 3 chapters.
  • IT: Watch Sailor moon dubbed in Italian 6 episodes.
  • JA: Learn Hiragana and Katakana
  • JA: Genki I. Lesson 1
  • JA: Kanji N4-N5: 3 lessons.
  • ZH: Read at least to page 50 on 等一個人咖啡 Only read until page 30 :(
  • EN: Read Coffee Boy, Juliet takes a breath and Illuminae. Only read Coffe Boy.

    In addition, I've done also:
+ IT: Listening and Reading Le avventure di Pinocchio. Capitolo 1-2
+ IT: Watched Percy Jackson e il ladro di fulmini.

Pimsleur is painfully slow! Actually I've just listened to the dialogues at the beginning and if I didn't understand something I looked it up on the dictionary.

Next week I'll be in Coruña with some friends that are visiting from Chicago, Sweden, and Taiwan. And then we'll be going to Sweden and I'll be out all this week. I'll be travelling by plane and train so I'll have plenty of time to read.

So my goals would be:

My goals for last week:
  • IT: Listening the audiobook and Reading at the same time HP e la pietra filosofale, 5 chapters
  • JA: Review Katakana
  • ZH: Read at least to page 50 on 等一個人咖啡
  • EN: Read Juliet takes a breath, Percy Jackson 1, every heart a doorway and I believe in a thing called love.

Postby zhuzilu » Fri Sep 08, 2017 11:56 am

Again, almost 2 months later I haven't uploaded anything... I decided to stop posting on the 6wcbot... But well... At least, I enjoyed a lot my stay in Florence, Italy. I learned lots of Italian, I was taking a B1 level course and could easily follow everything, made lots of friends. I read and watched lots of tv in Italian.

Let's make a Super Challenge update. There are still 116 days left until the end of the year (well, today 115, I made those stats yesterday).

English:
Reading: 278 books. There are some books in English that I'm currentlu reading so I might finish them, but I need to focus on other languages.
Films: 171 films. I want to reach the 200 films, but I think it's really doable. Specially with the Will & Grace and Stranger things release

French:
Reading: 31 books. I should read 30 pages per day.
Films: 47 films. I should watch 40 minutes per day.

Chinese:
Reading: 12 books. I should read 37 pages per day.
Films: 95 films. I should watch 3,8 minutes per day.

Italian:
Reading: 4 books. I should read 41 pages per day.
Films: 15 films. I should watch 66 minutes per day.

I still need to figure out my schedule for the next few months. But I will try to upload as much as I can.

My goals for this week (even though it's already Friday):
  • Start reading "Nous les menteurs" and have it finished by Friday, 15th.
  • Keep on reading 等一個人咖啡 and have it finished by Thursday, 14th.
  • Watch 2 films in French.
  • Keep on reading HP1 in Italian.
  • Watch some episodes of Will & Grace and Sailor Moon in Italian.
  • Review Hiragana and Katakana because I haven't done anything Japanese related in the last months.

(I need to find some decent Italian series asap!)

Again, here I am a month later with almost nothing done hehe
This last September I was quite concerned with looking for a job, and I've got several jobs as a teacher (English, French & Chinese). I'm particularly happy with the English one as it is in this academy/English language school in which normally only native speakers work :D :D
Now that I have more or less an structured routine I can start making some objectives and hoping that I'll achieve them this month.
I'm completely running out of time for the Super Challenge and for my Japanese N5 bet (both deadlines are in December) :o :?

86 days until the end of the year.

I'll go for half challenge in French and Italian.
Chinese: full challenge in movies and half in books.

Chinese: films: doable, just 5 movies.
reading: 1.900 pages left. 22 pages per day. I don't think I'll make it... But let's try to at least finish a couple of books.

French:
films: doable just 3 movies.
reading: 950 pages left. 11 pages per day. I think I can make it, I have several Guillaume Musso books I want to read.

Italian:
films: 2.970 minutes left, 34 minutes per day. Doable. As long as I have my Sailor Moon and Will & Grace
reading: 2.300 pages left, 27 pages per day. I think doable as well, I have about 8 italian books I bought in Firenze that I want to read + Harry Potter (maybe I'll do HP in audiobook instead of watching TV)

Japanese:
Study Genki books (as I've reviewed more than enough Hiragana now, although I still struggle a little with Katakana hehe).

Tests:
I want to take Dialang Italian tests now to know at what level I'm in, and at the end of the SC just as an experiment.
Next year's challenge, I'm going to attempt the Portuguese one from the beginning to see how far I can get. Also at the end of December I want to take that J-cat test for Japanese.

I'll try to update more frequently from now on.

I've made some changes on Japanese. I'm going to forget about Genki books, because I'm too tired after work... hehe
But I've been doing a lot of Lingodeer app. It's like Duolingo but way better, it has grammar explanations, you can turn off romaji. And it also has Chinese and Korean. I've been doing some Korean as well :)
I'm trying to get 20 stars daily in each language. So far I'm on track, although I might slow it down if things get complicated, at the moment is mostly reviewing things I used to know but forgot.
