Another year has gone by and it's easy to underestimate the progress that you have done...

I've been feeling as if I hadn't accomplished that much this year... Maybe it was because I had some unrealistic expectations and goals... But welll...

So this year:
- I learned a new language (Italian) over the summer in Florence, Italy.
- I started a job in an English language school
- And also I work as a Chinese teacher for little kids
- I didn't reach my Japanese goal, at all
- Same thing with Korean
- I'm still undecided about which one to pick and focus for next year

Big Goals for 2018
- Sit for the Noken 4 in December (I've just decided to get on the Japanese train!)
- Read more Chinese
- Keep on studying Chinese, maybe do the HSK6 (if I have time to go to Madrid )

January Goals:
- Hiragana and Katakana.

First week:
- Review Kana
- Review Genki's first 3 chapters.
- Review Assimil Japanese first 11 chapters.

Second week:
- Learn Genki chapter 4
- Learn Assimil until chapter 20
- Review First week.

Third week:
- Learn Genki chapter 5
- Learn Assimil until chapter 25
- Review First and Second week.

Fourth week:
- Learn Genki chapter 6
- Learn Assimil until chapter 30
- Review second and third week.

Fifth week:
- Learn Genki chapter 7
- Learn Assimil until chapter 20
- Review first, third and fourth week.

Can't believe we're already 2 weeks into 2018! It seems that I've been wasting my time...

Goals accomplished:
- Review Kana
- Bunpro N5 Lesson 1 (8 topics)
- Listened to some Assimil
- Did a couple of Lingodeer lessons

Next week goals:
- Review Genki's first 3 chapters.
- Learn Genki's 4th and 5th chapter.
- Review Assimil Japanese until chapter 20.

Also, I forgot complete to mention my other languages: English/French/Italian.

I don't have any specific plans apart from the Superchallenge (which I guess it will start again in March).

But I wanted to take the dialang test now and after finishing the next Superchallenge to be more accountable of the improvements that I can make. That's an idea that I actually wanted to try last time... but oh well... I forgot.

Language level: 851 (ugh, so close to get the highest level 1000-900)
Listening comprehension: B2 (that was lower than I was expecting... I only got 4 wrong and because the answers were really ambiguous...)

As always, I start my post with a "I can't believe X months have passed already!"
This year so far hasn't been really productive. I've basically been working towards the HSK exams (Chinese Proficiency exams), I want to get the HSK6 (the highest one) but I thought I should get first the previous one HSK5 (which would be a C1). I've done a couple of mock exams, I've studied the vocab (I still need to work on that, I'm using SRS) and I've read some books and watched some shows in various languages, but that's it... Not really much :S

I'm reading right now the goals that I've set on January... and well... I need to get on track, I still want to try going for the N4 next december.

Goals for the week:
- One mock test (HSK5)
(and the goals that I had for the first week of January):
- Review Kana
- Review Genki's first 3 chapters.
- Review Assimil Japanese first 11 chapters.

This should be easy, because I've done those things in the past, let's see if I can catch up with my schedule!

Here I am again being so insconsistent and starting a blog post with "I can't believe I haven't posted in 2 months"

Actually, I've being extra busy lately juggling 4 jobs at the same time... I'm a teacher so in a 2 months I'll be on holidays and I'll try to get back on routine but I won't promise anything haha

I need to set up my Super Challenge goals for this edition...

I want to attempt a full challenge in Chinese, French, Italian and English. Maybe, if I get on the Japanese train and get some basic level I'll try to do a japanese challenge... But 4 challenges look like enough:

- Chinese: Full challenge. 100 books or 5.000 pages. 100 movies or 9.000 minutes.
- Romance language: Double challenge. (French + Italian). 200 books or 10.000 pages. 200 movies or 18.000 minutes.
- English: Full challenge. 100 books or 5.000 pages. 100 movies or 9.000 minutes.

I'll have 610 days to achieve these goals. So I'll have to:

- Read 8,20 pages of each language everyday.
- Watch 14,75 minutes of each language everyday.

If you think about it... it doesn't look really daunting. But, I have to be consistent or those 8 pages will turn into 80 pages in 10 days. I can deal with 80 in all my languages, except Chinese which is my weakest language. And I'm already 6 days behind
So I'll have to go and get my pages on!

Next week's goals:
- Read something in French
- Read HP3 in Italian at least until 50%
- Read 150 pages of something in Chinese
- Watch a film in Italian / French
- Watch a few episodes of that Taiwanese drama

Super Challenge update:
English: read a 330 pages book and I'm currently reading the second part. The book is Simon vs the homosapiens agenda which I read at the beginning of the previous challenge and I know that I improved a lot compared with my actual level which makes so happy and excited to see how far I can get this year
I watched 3 films and some TV series;
Dude (netflix): really bad
Wonder. Sappy
First girl I loved. Not too bad
The 100. Season 5, 1st and 2nd episode. Great as always.
*Modern family and Shadowhunters which I haven't uploaded yet.

Romance: ( I decided to go with the Romance family instead of individual. Although I'll be keeping a spreadsheet to make sure I practiced both languages)
Italian: read a little book which was hilarious and super easy to read gli imbianchini non hanno ricordi. And last challenge I stopped at Harry Potter 3 so I'm going to reread it because that's my favourite and why not? Hehe
French; rien de rien.

Chinese: I started watching a new Taiwanese drama 三明治女孩 sandwich girl or something like that... meh it's about a girl that feels she's in between (actually in between I believe it's the English title)
Reading: I'm way behind 13 days x 8,20 pages = 106 pages!!! Wow I know I can catch up fairly easily in the other languages but I need to work on my Chinese reading.

- Read until 50% of HP3 Italian
- Read Leah on the offbeat
- Watch a film in French and Italian
- Watch a few episodes of the Taiwanese drama

I love it so much! It's so cute and fluffly! It's great! You should try reading the French or Spanish translation. I'm not sure if there's a Russian version though. Besides the film's already out in the US, it'll be out in Spain in Summer! I can't wait to watch it!

Two weeks ago goals:
- Read 150 pages in French / Chinese
- Read until 50% of HP3 Italian
- Read Leah on the offbeat Done
- Watch a film in French and Italian
- Watch a few episodes of the Taiwanese drama

What a fail... Instead I watched Shadowhunters, 13 reasons why and Friends in English. I guess I could watch those things in other languages (because I watch them on Netflix) I need to try that and get out of my comfort zone

Good thing is that I'm already way ahead on my English Challenge, so I would only do things in Chinese this week:

Goals for this week:
- Watch a few episodes of that Taiwanese drama (Was it called "Between"?) on Viki
- Read some comicbooks that I have on my iPad
- Read some Disney books
- Watch a few episodes of this 大耳朵的小朋友 big-eared kid that I also forgot the name
