Näistä sitten tosi usein pudotetaan viimenen /n/ pois. Laitoin näihin mun omat muodot mitä mä käyttäsin.

tiia wrote:En koskaan nähny tätä, mut on hyvä oppia taas jotain uutta.

tiia wrote:Eli sitten:
olin opiskelee

Joo tää on mahdollinen.

tiia wrote:olin tulos

"Tulla" on ykstavunen juuri (tul-) joten tää ei toimi.

tiia wrote:olin pakeneen*

tiia wrote:menin kirjottaa

Tää on ok, paitsi "kirjottaa(n)" koska painottomat diftongit on hävinny.

tiia wrote:olin sanomas

Jostain syystä tää ei toimi, "olin sanomas". Kai se riippuu vähän verbistä.

tiia wrote:menin siivoo

"Menin siivoon."

tiia wrote:"käyn tekee" ja "tulin tekee"

Molemmat näistä on ok.

No, just niin mäkin aattelin.

These are general tips to all Finnish learners (this relates to speech and casual written conversation):

Don't use the -vat plural third person. Ever. The only person I know who differentiates between those two is my grandmother. And my old Finnish teacher.

Same thing with the past participle - never use the plural past participle.

"He ovat tehneet" in the standard then turns into "Ne on tehny"

Tää viikko on vapaa, eli ei luentoja, mut mulle se just tarkottaa, ettei oo espanjan kurssia. Ainakin läksyjä on.
(Saa korjata.)

Last week my copy of Odininlapsi arrived and could finally start reading it. Though I have to admit that I find it particularly more difficult, than the books I read before. There are a lot of unknown words. But somehow it's no surprise: until now I always had taken a look on how difficult a book is to read before I bought it. I hope I will still get used to it, because the story is interesting. So, progress is quite slow at the moment, but I hope I will catch up today or at least during this week.
Reading another Finnish book at the same time was probably also not the best idea, since that other book is really easy and fast to read. But it won't take a long time until I finish it, at least as long as I continue at the same speed.

Edit: I caught up with Odininlapsi today.

It's nice to have something easier to fall back on. Eld (Fire) takes that place for me. Glad that you're finding Odininlapsi interesting. I knew from the first page that it is a book I'll most likely have to read again. However, I think that I'll really enjoy rereading it, so that isn't a problem for me :)

Will I still reach my "secret" goal of reaching the 500 pages this month? (Right now the twitter bot counts 388 pages for this month.) Odininlapsi is becoming easier to read and therefore getting more and more interesting to read, although sometimes there are still clusters of unknown words. I'm thinking about how to cope with all the new words, so that I actually remember them and not only that I looked them up and where I wrote them down. I accidentially grabbed an old word list and noticed one of the words (laho) I wrote down for Odininlapsi.
Maybe I should try writing down sentences with the new words. (I'm not a fan of SRS.)
I'd also like to finish my other book soon - hopefully also still this month, so before Odininlapsi will keep me away from it.

This week was no Spanish class and I still haven't done my homework. But at least my university project finally seems to make some progress. 8-)

I'm having my Spanish exam in two weeks and got a partner for the oral part. I once spoke some Spanish outside the classroom with a Polish girl. (She could speak German as well.) She talked to some German before and they were telling each other that right now noone would understand them, but except for like 5 words I understood the whole discussion.

I also spoke some Finnish, but not as much as I would have liked to. But having Erasmus students from all over Germany in town definitely helped. :D
This week I caught up again with the weekly goals of Odininlapsi, as I fell behind the schedule the two weeks before. But due to all the stuff going on that was absolutely no surprise. Hopefully things will now calm down again.

Oh and I found one Finnish text book that covers (partly?) those tekemässä - tekeen changes. The only problem is I guess, that nearly noone gets that far in this textbook.

Re: tiia's log

I had my Spanish exam today. Or at least the listening, reading and writing part of it. Monday I'm having the oral exam and then - if I didn't perform too bad - tadaa I'm cerftified B1.
I'm getting the final results one month from now, so there's quite some waiting time...

The exam today was basically about having a healthy lifestyle. It was one of the topics we had been told to prepare, but I somehow would have expected the other topics to appear a least somehow.
The audio was very comprehensible, but I wasn't sure about some of the questions on the paper. And basically same goes for the reading part. It's a bit disappointing, because those skills had been been my best in those tests before.

But I think the writing went quite well. We had to write a formal letter with recommendations how some person should change her lifestyle to a healthier one. So basically suggesting to do some sports or how to quite smoking etc.

So monday the oral part... We got a pair from our course with whom we have to discuss a specific situation. We'll get the task more or less randomly, have 15min of preparation time and then 15min for the actual exam. Hopefully we'll get a nice task.
But I expect this to be - like the times before - to be my weakest skill.

In case anyone wonders: I've done a similar exam for Spanish last semester (level A2) and for Finnish (B1) several years ago. Both times I got full points for listening and reading, and significantly weaker results for the oral part. Writing was usually somewhere between.
The exams are not only for certification (Unicert), but also the normal exams for our university courses. Though of course not all of the language courses give you this kind of certificate in the end, only certain levels do.
