Re: Emma's 2016 French and German Log

Postby EmmaC02 » Tue Mar 15, 2016 4:51 am

It felt nice to get back on track today. Let's get right into it, shall we?

French

So I managed to complete all I wanted to today for French. The article I read was about 15 pages of an electronic journal, so I reckon just under 10,000 words taking font size and spacing into account. Boy is political science ever dense and theoretical. I enjoyed the challenge however. I printed it off, so tomorrow I'm going to read it once more, highlight all of the argumentative connecting words and make sure I understand their function in the sentence. I did wrote a response to the article, but since it's pretty boring and long (for lang-8), I think I'll just ask my mum to correct it.

French Goals for Tomorrow
- Re-read article, highlight argumentative connecting words and ensure I understand their usage
- Complete French Grammar whatever material it has on 'en', 'y', etc.
- 1 hour of podcast

German

Didn't quite reach all my goals. I didn't write a lang-8 post, and I only got through one chapter of Tintenherz, however everything else went well.

Don't judge me, but I've been watching Germany's Next Top Model, and I have to say I'm enjoying it. The language is simple enough that I can understand at least half of it without subtitles, and it's nice to be exposed to how girls my own age speak. I feel I'm very slowly starting to understand the all important, but impossible words like 'mal', 'egal', ''noch', etc. I'm also quite comfortable understanding sentences with the infinitive verb at the end.

Don't judge me again, but I've been speaking to my dogs in German. "Ohhh Max, du bist total süß! Komm her mein kleiner Schatz!"

German Goals for Tomorrow
- Tintenherz next 2 chapters
- Memrise German A2 half level
- Michel Thomas lessons 21 + 22
- Assimil lesson 6
- ~100 word lang-8 post
- Anki review

Thank you very much! Yeah, it's a bit sad to leave it behind for now, but it must be done. We'll be reunited in no time :D .

I'll look for you on lang-8 tomorrow! Yup, you just write in your target language and natives will correct what you write. You can also correct other people's posts in your native language. It's good to do that because the more you correct other people's posts, the more likely yours gets corrected because it places you higher up on the listing of new posts. I look forward to seeing you write!

Re: Emma's 2016 French and German Log

I'm a bit annoyed with what I accomplished today. I didn't complete many of my goals because I got too caught up watching Champions League (horribly boring today) and hockey (overtime winner by my team's beautiful Swedish team captain :D ). Ah well, at least I did something.

French

I feel horrible for saying this, but I can't wait until my exam is over with. I'm not having any fun with French, and it's definitely showing in the effort I put into it. I did manage to go through the article I read yesterday and examine the usage of argumentative connecting words, so I'm pleased with that. Tomorrow I'm going to do one of the sample questions provided by the TA and send it off to her for feedback. The questions give you a graph, and asks you to describe it and suggest reasons for the results it shows. As I'm writing it, I'll take note of any words I need to look up, so I can make sure I learn them before the actual exam day comes, since all of the potential questions will use similar vocabulary.

French Goals for Tomorrow
- Write answer to sample exam question and send it to TA to get feedback - note any important vocabulary I need to look up
-1 hour of podcast

German

I pretty much did the bare minimum today. I completed all of the goals that don't require too much effort :? . I suppose even when you aren't in the mood to do anything, just making sure you don't have a 0 day is important. On to the next one!

For the next few days I'm going to take a break from Assimil, and focus some more on reading. It's boring me to tears and I really want to get caught up on Tintenherz.

German Goals for Tomorrow
- The usual Memrise goal - gotta keep my streaks going (at 55 right now)
- Michel Thomas lesson 30 - 35
- Anki review
- Tintenherz as much as I can do!

Wow, I just spent a good 45 minutes writing everything in French and German instead of English, only to somehow exit out of the window. I did everything I wanted to today and more. Maybe I'll write about it again tomorrow when I'm not so fuming.

Also, gut gemacht für alle deine üben!

Entschuldige mich für meine Fehler. :)

French

Goals
-Usual Memrise goal
- Anki Review
- Michel Thomas lesson 40 - 45
-Assimil lesson 9 (I think)

I know that my writing is absolutely filled to the brim with errors, so please feel free to correct any that you see. In fact, I would really appreciate it. Merci beaucoup and danke schön! Also, I couldn't find the accent circonflexe on my keyboard, so I know that I left those out.

(Sorry if my placement of 'noch' and 'doch' seems random... it pretty much is  )
