The root of English ellipse is easily recognizable in έλλειψη (= shortage).

Απόδειξη (= evidence) gives English the fancy apodeictic (= established beyond doubt)...wonder what percentage of people randomly polled on the street would know that one!

The other meaning of παράδοση is "tradition." I guess the two are related in that traditions, like packages, are "passed along" or "delivered" to new people? Makes me think of the Biblical phrase "the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."

Dang, this review was pretty miserable. I added five extra cards to my usual fifteen yesterday, so I figured I'd just add five today instead of the usual Sunday ten and call it a week.

In case any of you don't know, I find a useful search in Anki is "deck:[insert_your_deck_name_here] rated:7:1", which gives you all the cards you marked as "Again" within the last seven days.
