This one jumped out to me as the origin of 'prototype'.

Interestingly the adjective πρωτότυπος exists as well, which seems to be the originator. Its definitions in modern Greek include:

(1) που λέγεται ή γράφεται για πρώτη φορά κι εκφράζει κάτι νέο και διαφορετικό
said or written for the first time, expressing something new and different

(2) που δημιουργήθηκε πρώτος και συνιστά τη βάση για όλα τα υπόλοιπα που ακολουθούν
being created first, establishing a basis for others to follow

(3) που δεν επαναλαμβάνει προηγούμενα πρότυπα, αλλά τα λόγια ή οι πράξεις του χαρακτηρίσζονται από νεωτερισμό
not copying earlier models (= πρότυπα!); whose words or actions are characterized by novelty

I bought one month of subscription to Καθημερινή to try it out. The above vocabulary is all taken from the first four and a half-ish paragraphs of an article about lost airport luggage and social media scams related to it:

Not a terribly complicated subject but still quite slow going for me! I'm happy to put away the textbooks for a while, though.

My favorite word from today is definitely ευκολόπιστος (= gullible, credulous), pairing εύκολος (= easy) + πιστός (= believing, faithful). So a gullible person is just an "easy-believer."

Looks like it is: the Greek word comes from Italian puntare (= to gamble), while English "punter" comes from either Spanish punto or French pointe:
