Assimil Lesson 32 today, "Άφιξη στο νησί" (= Arriving at the island). Wow, this one was tough. Introduces the present participle and lots of new vocab, mostly travel-related, and it's the longest lesson so far.
I like that the word for "hot" (ζεστός /zes.'tos/) makes me think of the word "zesty" in English. In this lesson it was the ήλιος (sun) described as ζεστός.

Assimil Lesson 33 today, Οι συγκοινωνίες στο νησί (= Transportation on the island). This lesson was again about (drumroll) means of public transportation. Not so exciting, but some useful words in it and we see the first use of past tense.

Assimil Lesson 34 today, Διαδρομί προς το χωριό (= trip to the village). Comparatives and superlatives introduced, some good new verbs:
αρχίζω: I begin
σταματάω: I stop
απέχω: to be at a certain distance from (το σπίτι απέχει ένα χιλιόμετρο από εδώ = the house is one kilometer from here)

Assimil Lesson 35 this morning, an Επανάληψη (review). Various personal pronouns, lots of stuff about conjugations. These review lessons are pretty heavy going. I'm glad I do multiple reviews of the reviews, otherwise I'd surely miss a whole lot from these infodumps.

Re: A stroll through modern Greek
Lesson 36 today, Το μονοπάτι (= The path). This one wasn't too hard and was pretty enjoyable. I tried breaking the lesson up into "chunks" in a document and kind of like the look of it for review purposes:
I've decided to switch up my reviewing process a bit: if I space my lesson reviews apart by multiples of seven, then once a week I end up hitting four grammar-review lessons in a day, which is pretty grueling. So today I reviewed Lessons 21 and 6 (multiples of fifteen apart). We'll see how my new idea goes.

Lesson 37 this morning, Ελαιώνας και αμπελώνας (= the olive grove and the vineyard). Continuing to follow our characters on a stroll through a hillside olive grove. Another reasonably easy and pleasant one but with some good new constructions.

Lesson 38 this morning, Τα ζώα του χωριού (= the animals of the village). Animal names (obviously), some new prepositions, some aorist. Maybe the last few lessons have been unusually easy or maybe my brain is just getting better at assimilating new Greek. I'll choose to believe the latter!

Hi tastyonions, I'm really enjoying your log so far! I'm planning to follow a similar routine when I start Greek next year. I was curious what edition of Assimil you're using? I flipped through my copy (the 2017 edition) and realized ours aren't the same.

Mine says copyright 2017 as well. What was different in your edition? It's possible I misnumbered one of the lessons or something, heh.

Lesson 39 this morning, Κουραστήκαμε! (= we tired ourselves out!). Lots of aorist practice. Copious grammar and usage notes are longer than the lesson text but they look useful.
