Hello all
I plan to use this log to track my progress in learning French. I'm a beginner. My first goal is to be able to understand current news radio shows.
I am currently working my way through Coffee Break French.

Merci beaucoup!
Film
Taxi, 1998
Good for learning French. Lots of words about directions, means of transportation etc. The plot was uninteresting, but the film was pretty entertaining.

Quite a coincidence. Tak for velkomsten.
French
Finished Coffee Break French Season 1. I think I will just continue with Season 2.
English
Finished Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man, audiobook.
Decent enough. Had to find a non-spoiler list of characters to make it work.
Inspired by a post on the forum, I will now try a translation of one of the prolific Belgian author Georges Simenon's Inspector Maigret-books.

Re: Dane learning French (and English)
French
I have watched Mobutu, King of Zaire, 1999 (Mobutu, roi du Zaïre), 15+
British narration, but plenty of French interviews, speeches etc.
I have realised that learning French will open up a big part of Africa.
English
I went with Maigret's Patience, 1939 (La Patience de Maigret). It was short and okay, I guess. Maybe I will return to Maigret another time. And now for something completely different.

French
Watched Chez Mimi, five episodes. French subtitles.
I've started using Duolingo. Might be a gamechanger. Suddenly, I'm starting to pay attention to French grammar and spelling.
English
Eats, Shoots & Leaves, by Lynne Truss
A short, humorous audiobook about... punctuation.

French
Things are going well. I have continued with Duolingo French. I have added a progress bar to my signature. A long way to go. It did annoy me when Duolingo hit me with several new tenses and irregular verbs at the same time. Rather than doing the memorization, I just created a cheatsheet instead
Beau Travail (1999)
More dreamy and poetic language than the excellent recruitment videos available on Youtube.

Re: Dane learning French (and English)
I think I will switch to only noting my work with French in this log, unless it's language-related.
I wanted to boost my understanding, so I paused Coffee Break French 2 and listened to French Vocabulary from the Michel Thomas course instead. You're supposed to have finished the original course first, but I haven't. It did not matter though and I can always listen again, if I improve significantly. Tres bien.
