I am trying to give myself as much variety as possible with my Oral input.

Today I worked out on my exercise machine for an hour while learning a little bit about gardening......

During the rest of the day I will have read 2 hours in my current book: La promesse de l'aube Romain Gary

[Edit. to add my reading times]

Thank you! :D
I actually upgraded that a few years back. I was studying at a language school in India for a few weeks, and was interviewed by a reporter from the Times of India. In her article about the langauge school she said that I "spoke Hindi like a pro" so I decided that as it was in writing, I might as well describe myself as a "speaker".
In fact, my speaking ability in Hindi has faded in the intervening time, but if I were to go back I'd be speaking like a pro again in no time.

I have always wanted to learn Sanskrit. Nobody else wants to but I do........there is such a wealth of knowledge in its books.

Assimil has a fairly recent course which is quite good (I've done a dozen lessons or so). The advantage it has over any other Sanskrit course is that it is based around audio, whereas most Sanskrit courses have no audio. In addition, it seems to lean towards Sanskrit as it is spoken rather than as a dead language, which seems like a more viable starting point. The one issue is that it is only available in a French base, but that would be no issue for you, of course.

This past month as mentioned above I have been spending a lot of time with:
-Le Pays préféré des Français
and
-L'Avis de Marie.

For a review of a book I just finished today go to:

La promesse de l'aube de Romain Gary

Carmody wrote:I am neither a Catholic nor "Christian" so to speak, so what follows is in no way an attempt to proselytize, however, in my endless search for French Resources I have come across a source I find very useful. It is the documentaries of French monastic life. They are slow, clearly spoken, and seem an excellent source for me.

The following are but two examples:
Les Chartreux "Au delà du silence"

Les moines de l'abbaye de Lérins
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g49TwxKxuo

With hopes this is of use to someone.........

This is going to be of much use to me. I'm exceedingly (abjectly?) Catholic! I'm not using youtube during Lent, but after--I'm watching this. I just found your log and it's great. I'm only learning French right now.

One question: What is -Le Pays préféré des Français? Is it a book or a podcast?

Thanks so much!
