I think it is probably just his internet connection is poor. However, he has bought a new microphone and that helped a lot. We are planning to do some kind of "podcast" which has no video, that should improve things. I proposed an question and answer thing, so we both get a question and answer it then bolt them together. It would mean he didn't have to stream, so could record directly to his disk.
But I'm glad you liked it.
Hope you're putting conversation suggestions in the comments?

To be honest I haven't been doing much, but I have been reading and doing my anki cards. Anki is just a habit now, so pointless to report on it really since it is the one thing which I consistently do. I've been doing a ton of stuff over the last few weeks, not really language related, or at least only slightly. I've reworked my website over again so that I can blog in Org-Mode of Emacs. It generates static pages, so no more sql injection attacks, or php piggybacking, or all that other hacker crap, and since it regenerates it nightly from source, even if they did get into it, their rubbish gets overwritten.
I've started a YouTube channel and posted a couple of videos about how to translate using google sheets, how to use corpus analysis software to make word frequency lists, etc. Hopefully I'll be adding more stuff to it. The idea is basically to screencast software for learning languages, at least the stuff I use.
I wrote up the guide to installing substudy, etc on windows. I think I'll try recording each step and creating a playlist. Don't know if anyone would find it useful. Here is an example:
Don't know how to get my ugly face off the screen, so if that doesn't scare you off then happy days. This particular video uses a bit of linux shell scripting, so I should probably record another one on this topic just using Windows.
Well, that is it. Nothing to report until next lesson, or I finish the second book in the Dark Tower series.
Your forum avatar makes you look much older than in the video!

Also, I thought you were British
Humm... should change the avatar photo I guess! No, I'm American, but I've been here for so long my sister calls me a limey. I'm sure you can tell I've picked up a bit of the accent, if not the vocabulary.

I'm no accent expert, but I thought 100% American accent
Wow, from your accent I thought the opposite, that you were a Brit who'd lived in the US/Canada for a while! To me, it sounds very South-West England with a hint of North American.

I lived in Ireland for two years, and I really picked up the Irish accent.
Can you suggest a good headset microphone combo for Skype sessions?
Not Rick, but I use Skype both for learning and work -- Sennheiser USB sets are about 20€, let in enough ambient sound so you hear your voice and have good pick up microphones. And they are robust but you can't use them with a tablet or phone as they use a USB port.
Whatever you choose, I don't recommend full ear cover because it changes the acoustics of your own voice.
Rick, I thought you sounded a bit Irish, a bit american, a bit west country, a dash cockney geezer and mostly pirate. You don't sound so pirate in real life
