I was just looking at one of your YouTube videos, "Gathering resources and using mnemonics - My Destupidification Project".

For British History, there was a long running Radio programme called 'this sceptred isle' which you may well find available at your local library as a set of audio CDs.

EDIT
The English and their History by Robert Tombs is a recent-ish one volume history you might find at your library, I've not read it, but I keep meaning to! I have read his British-French history "That sweet enemy".

OH Yeah! I remember my wife talking about "this sceptred isle". I'll have to dig it out and have a listen. Better for a train commute than a textbook. :)

OK, all done. Good book, but there are lots of reviews so I won't do one here.

Next up!

Les animaux de la guerre by Frederik Pohl a translation of the book "Slave Ship"

Korea has wonderful romantic comedies that America does not have.

Back Street Rookie is just one of many.

My wife and I love the sound of the language.

That is part of the reason for booking the trip. My wife and I watched a few zillion Korean dramas throughout the lockdown.

EDIT: Oh, and we're still watching them. :)

My wife and I are totally hooked on them. We seriously thought we were the only people in the West who ever watched them. The RomanticComedies are a genre that the West does not have.

We are seriously hooked.
We love the sound of the language........

Of course here in the US to watch we had to join Viki.com to watch......

In the UK, I've met tons of people who are hooked on K-Dramas. At my wife's work, they even recommend series to each other. Personally, we use Netflix for just about all the stuff we watch, although my wife did pay a couple of months subscription to a site I cannot remember in order to get a new release.

I doubt you're as alone as you think!

Arte have some travel/cookery programmes set in Italy that you might like: Délices des Pouilles

I will check it out. Some things like this freak me out. For example, someone will start speaking Italian and then suddenly it will be overlayed with someone dubbing what they are saying in French. At which point I can't seem to understand either!
