Eine Frage zu der Wortstellung: Welche Sätze sind nicht natürlich?
V1.1▸Die Kommentare gehören zur eigentlichen Frage.
(poor)1.2▸Zur eigentlichen Frage gehören die Kommentare. (possible, but unclear and very marked)

V2.2 ▸Die Kommentare gehören auch zur eigentlichen Frage.
X2.3 ▸Die Kommentare gehören zur eigentlichen Frage auch.

V4.2 ▸Die Kommentare gehören direkt zur eigentlichen Frage.
X4.3 ▸Die Kommentare gehören zur eigentlichen Frage direkt.

5. the position of "nicht"
V3.2 ▸Die Kommentare gehören nicht zur eigentlichen Frage.
X3.1 ▸Die Kommentare gehören zur eigentlichen Frage nicht.

V5.1 Ich mag alle drei Bücher nicht.
V5.2 Ich mag nicht alle drei Bücher.
- 5.1 and 5.2 are both fine, but semantically different.

- Ich mag {alle drei Bücher} nicht.
- beantwortet die Frage "Magst du diese/ die drei Bücher?"
- hier handelt es sich um (...this is about
- Die Position von “nicht” im Satz hängt von der Betonung ab.
(The position of "not" in the sentence depends on the intonation.
Unbetonte Positionen: Am Ende des Satzes

(I don't visit my brother.

▸Mir ist "Eigentliche Frage" völlig unklar. Das kann sehr verschiedene Bedeutung haben. Gibt es einen Kontext?
Wer stellt die Frage? Was ist daran "eigentlich"? 1. Gibt es mehrere Fragen, wovon Du sterben kurzfristig herausgreifst? 2. Ist es gar keine Frage, sondern ein Thema? (Wie zum Beispiel bei der "deutschen Frage"?)
The "actual question" is completely unclear to me. That can have very different meanings. Is there a context?
Who is asking the question? What's "actually" about it? 1. Are there several questions that you single out for the short term? 2. Is it not a question at all, but a topic? (Like the "German question" for example?)

▸Was war bei der Deutschen Frage die eigentliche Frage) Deutsche Frage: Deutsche Frage – Wikipedia.
(What was the actual question in the German question) German question: German question - Wikipedia.

Als Deutsche Frage (alternative Schreibung: deutsche Frage) oder Deutschlandfrage wird der in der europäischen Geschichte zwischen 1806 und 1990 ungelöste und in unterschiedlicher Form immer wieder auftretende Problemkomplex der deutschen Einheit bezeichnet.
(The German question (alternative spelling: German question) or Germany question refers to the unsolved problem complex of German unity that recurred in various forms in European history between 1806 and 1990.

Deshalb frage ich: Was meinst Du damit? Ich vermute, Du meinst 1., aber klar ist es nicht.
(That's why I ask: What do you mean by that? I assume you mean 1., but it's not clear.

1.2. ist stark markiert, aber das kann gewollt sein.
Es hat die Konnotation: Ohne Kommentare ist es unvollständig.
(1.2. is heavily marked, but that may be intentional.
It has the connotation: it is incomplete without comments.

3.1. ist auch stark markiert, aber gegebenenfalls möglich, wenn die sehr starke Hervorhebung von "nicht" nötig ist.
(3.1. is also strongly marked, but possibly possible if the very strong emphasis of "not" is necessary.

2.3. hat die Konnotation einer sehr starken Einschränkung. Hier würde ich danach einen Satz mit "Aber" erwarten.
(2.3. has the connotation of a very strong constraint. Here I would expect a sentence with "But" afterwards.

Bei neutralem Kontext stimme ich Kajjo zu. (#2)
Die Wortstellung ist teilweise bedeutungsunterscheidend, deshalb brauche ich Kontext. Was willst Du aussagen?
(For neutral context, I agree with Kajjo. (#2)
The word order is partially meaning-distinguishing, so I need context. What are you trying to say?

●(Sentences Writing)▸
▸1. Several months ago I picked* picked up/picked out/chose three books in a bookstore, supposing thinking I'd like all three "all of them" or (more colloquially) "them all".
▸1.1 ..., expecting to like them all.

- "Pick" by itself is generally limited to harvesting fruits and vegetables. For selecting items out of an array, I used a phrasal verb like "picked out" or "picked up". (Here I'd prefer the latter.)
- ‘Suppose’ has much the same connotation as ‘imagine’, which is that what you’re thinking is in some way hypothetical, or not strongly supported by any evidence.
- As a pronoun, "all" generally takes the form "all of them" or (more colloquially) "them all".

▸2. So far Now I've finished (reading) all all of them/ them all; unfortunately, only one of them attracts* me. I only like one of them.
- This is a somewhat odd use of "attract". I'd prefer an expression like "speaks to me" or "I only care for one of them."
- To me, the two suggested alternatives seem a little too verbose for this context. I’d just use ‘like’ instead.

▸3. My neighbor also borrowed and read them, too. He said none none of them pleased "like" him because all three of the stories all the narratives were too complicated for him.
▸3.1 He said he didn't like any of them because he found them all too complicated.
- "Please" has a somewhat archaic/literary flair when used this way.
- "all three of the stories" is confusing; it sounds to me like you're talking of three stories in a collection of several short stories rather than three individual books.
- Stylistically, the repetition of ‘too’ in the same way in two consecutive sentences feels somewhat annoying. I’d replace the first with ‘also’: My neighbour also borrowed and read them….
- we don't regularly use "to please" like gefallen in German.

▸4. In addition, my sister read the three books, too. She think two of them are wonderful great/lovely.
- Or you could get rid of that ‘in addition’ in the second sentence — it’s redundant when you’re already using ‘too’. (Actually, come to think of it, I’d get rid of ‘in addition’ either way.)
- To have both "in addition" and "too" is repetitive (tautological).
- ‘Wonderful’ is perhaps slightly over-effusive. Unless she really did love those books that much, I’d prefer ‘lovely’ or ‘great’ or some other similar adjective.

▸5. However, the book that doesn't please her so so much is exactly the only one that pleases me.
5.1 However, the book that she doesn't like so much is precisely the one that I like.
- "to please" and "so" used as an adverb are both quite literary words. You can use "like" and ‘so much’ instead. I’d recommend getting rid of one word or the other, or better yet both.

▸6. Books, I think then, are just like dishes.
6.1 So I think that books are just like food;
- ‘Then’ doesn’t seem quite right here: what you want to emphasise here is that the one event was the reason for the other, rather than the one happened before the other. On the other hand, I can’t think of any much better word here. (‘Thus’ almost works, but it’s a little formal and technical…)
- We tend not to use "dishes" that often in ordinary English; it's more of a culinary term. I would just say "Books are just like food."

▸7. What attracts one one person doesn't always attract someone else.
7.1 what one person likes, another may not.
- The use of "one" as a pronoun is quite literary. More colloquial would be "one person".
- There are various other ways one could say this. The shortest would be "Tastes differ"!

▸1. Several months ago, I bought three books from a bookstore, thinking I would like all three.
2. However, having read all of them, I only ended up liking one.
3. I lent them to my neighbour, but he told me he didn't like any of them because they were too complicated.
4-5. My sister also read them, and liked two, but the one she didn't like is the one I did.
6-7. Taste in books is a bit like taste in food — what one person likes won't always suit another's palate.

▸4.1.1 Einmal habe ich mich auf dem Dach hingesetzt** und zu Abend gegessen.
▸4.1.2 Auf dem Dach* habe ich mich einmal hingesetzt und ...

-[*] 4.1.2 focuses very much on the location; you'd expect that it is preceded by some mention of the roof, (e.g.
Unser Haus hat ein Flachdach (flat roof) mit Garten)
or the speaker is pointing at the roof.
-[**] (2) "sich hinsetzen" focuses very much on the act of sitting down or taking a seat; I'd rather go with "sich setzen".
▸4.1.3 Einmal habe ich mich auf das Dach gesetzt...
