SOAS decided to hold the JLPT in July after all. registration opened on 17th March and I tried to register on the morning of the 18th. All the spaces were already filled (not just N2, everything!). I checked Edinburgh and they won't be holding it until December and Cardiff only ever hold it in December (I think).
So it looks like pent up demand beat me. I'll have to find out when December registration opens and try registering one minute after midnight, I guess!

Re: dampingwire's JP & DE
This time around I grabbed a slot at 8AM, so I should be all set for JLPT N2 in London in December.
Apart from the preparation. Everything else is sorted

Re: dampingwire's JP & DE
My fingers are crossed that it will happen this year. Did you end up having to register 1 minute after midnight as you predicted? Registration hasn't opened yet here in Canada, all the Universities say it will open in early September. Your experience convinced me to register for the email list now right now.

Re: dampingwire's JP & DE
Registration officially opened at 8AM (I tried at 7:59 and it wasn't yet open!) and I finished the process at 8:08AM. Then I paid up immediately to ensure that I didn't lose my spot.
I've since had a confirmation email from the SOAS store to say that I'd paid and another confirmation a few days later to say that I was registered for N2.

Re: dampingwire's JP & DE
Wow, I am getting bad at updating here.
Anyway, I just logged on to report briefly that the official JLPT results website has suffered some kind of hack. Either that or I scraped through N2 (100/180) despite my worst exam performance ever (IMHO).
I'm going to have to dig out my previous results to check but I think this was my lowest vocab/grammar (30/60) but inspired guessing in my reading and listening seem to have saved me.
It's 1AM so I think I'll check again when I'm properly awake in the morning

Welcome back! It's been a while since I've noticed you posting. I'd assumed you'd left LLORG for good.

I have been quite remiss haven't I? Even though I'm now fully WFH and so avoid almost all commuting, it just seems that things that need to be done somehow just pile up!

Thank you. I guess it's got to be N1 but also I need to get much more speaking and listening practice in ... I still can't properly follow TV news on the web, so there's a lot more to be done!
