Finished THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS in Bangla. I'm planning to L-R it, and won't count reads where I'm comparing the English. This is one of those books that I can stomach rereading five times. But I'll take a break to read Harry Potter #2 and maybe some Shonku before returning for the next rep.

Still working on Greek everyday as well.
I make extensive use of Louis Tyler's free audio Greek New Testament: https://www.youtube.com/@diognetusdamascus1142

I had my Bangla ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview tonight from https://www.languagetesting.com/

As far as I know I didn't agree to not talk about the assessment or assessment topics.

It was a 30minute phone interview. The man spoke standard educated colloquial Bangla. His word choice a couple of times made me think he was from Kolkata, but I don't think it made a significant difference. He lost me in political conversation and was using a lot of newspaper words at one point (newspapers and new broadcasts here use formal, non-colloquial Bangla that is closer to university reading level). I talked about my neighborhood, my family, where I grew up, global warming, the effect of social media on society, how I spend my day hour by hour, events in the news (train derailing in India over the weekend-(What's the word for "derail?")), role played a situation, talked about how to make Chow Mein, and about my future plans. He lost me in a conversation about the US election, and in a question about the state of education in the world. The way the assessment works is that they try to lose you.

The website is not user-friendly. It's quite complicated to set up the test, and at one point they rejected my exam date without notifying me (which is why I did not end up taking it until now). I had to initiate a conversation with support a few days before my exam, and I found out that my exam was not actually scheduled. I ended up with about 15 or more emails with support.

The test taking platform has fairly rigorous safeguards against cheating. Someone watches you on Zoom with screenshare on so they can see your desktop and watch you while you have the phone interview, and you have to show them your testing environment on camera.

We will see what my results are.

Scored "Advanced Low" on the ACTFL. They gave me a nice certificate.
That is also where I would have self-assessed.

Popping in to say I finished CHAMBER OF SECRETS in Bangla. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Reading a Shonku story and then moving on to the Bangla translation of THE HEAVENLY MAN.

Been quite a while since I posted an update.
I'm reading a Bangla autobiography, a novel with dialogue in Scots, and the New Testament in Greek.
I am also doing chunking and shadowing in Bangla, daily vocab in Bangla and Greek, and review courses in Greek.

I'm creating reverse shadowing videos of the New Testament in Greek and Audio Interlinear videos (with Erasmian Pronunciation).
Here are links:

Audio Interlinear: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... ZLoTQ3JImH
Reverse Shadowing: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... mWSBEQCgoU

There are also playlists for individual books.

Been taking a Greek Grammar refresher class and going through a textbook and creating a mnemonic for each paradigm regardless of whether I already know it or not. Here is the mnemonic video playlist I will be adding to:

I know, I know. This is not the best way to learn a language, but anyone who takes a koine greek Grammar Translation class (which is most students) will be asked to memorize paradigm tables within a week or two.

Finished বেহেস্তি মানুষ. Back to Shonku and maybe another Harry Potter.
Busy with working on a Master's degree, but still reading a bit of Greek everyday, and finished creating an audio/visual interlinear for the Greek New Testament:

Took me two years, but I finished Shonku Shomogro.
Not sure what's next. A friend gave me a stack of textbooks they went through in a language school, and I'd like to go through them. I have a few books that I have in Bangla, English, and Bangla audio that I will mix in as well.
Working a job, and on my Masters, and trying to give my best to my family as well, so I'm definitely in a "little-bit-everyday" phase.
