It's interesting that don means water.
Not far from Ossetia the river Don flows, emptying its waters in the Black Sea, as do another rivers Dnepr, Dniester, Danube, all four with D and N...

- Languages: I speak some Turkish (really rusty), I understand a fair amount of Low Saxon, and am currently learning Ossetic (Iron dialect). I learn my languages by exposure, not by studying class material (besides dictionaries and basic guides). It has been a long time since I've studied any language.

Yeah.
The "highways" back in the day. The lifelines to civilizations. It's a fascinating part of the world, with such a long history. The river names have very ancient roots as well.

Hello, everyone.
I apologize to anyone who may still be following my log. I have been quite busy lately. I will post some more vocabulary later today.
Tomorrow, I will transition into another stage of this study.
Mæ zærdæ yin zægi ænænizdzinad!

Re: My Ossetian Immersion Log
Salam!
Observations:
I am beginning the next stage with a theme in mind - observations. By this, I mean everyday things observed by our senses. Like I said before, this would be an increase in the amount of words memorized (5). In addition to this, I have decided to take in reading and audio/visual sources more frequently. I think there's an Ossetian language movie about the Nart Sagas on Youtube that I'll watch later. Also, I think I might dive into studying Kartuli (Georgian) sooner, because why not?
Anyways, todays vocabulary:
tærs = beech tree
rindz = animal track
zæxx = earth
marg = bird
yæng = body part
