I read the first 3 books in Danish back in 2017 and before that I listened to the whole series as audiobooks partly in Danish partly in Swedish.
I found it quite easy back then, but it was harder in Italian. It took me a few attempts to get started, I was more comfortable with 19th century naval warfare than plants and animal names to put it that way. But it's certainly readable.
