Well, the airline I booked tickets from has had their pilots on strike for 13 days in a row. :shock: I can hope it clears up by August 6th, but it might not.

At the same time, when I am inclined to worry and fret about my options, I have the impression God is telling me, "stop it. If it is my will to send you to Scandinavia, I will make it work. I am in control". Even if possible changes are frustrating, I do take a lot of comfort that it's not just me against the universe, that my God can make sense of the chaos.

Good news! The airline is operating again! The pilots were on strike for 2 weeks. :shock: So as far as I can tell, I'm still visiting Scandinavia this August. :D

I’m at the Boston airport! :shock: :D

Though admittedly, I’m more nervous than anything. As I told people in real life, I would less nervous going to Japan: one, because I know more people; two, I’ve been there before; three, post-pandemic worries in general…Even though people that understand English are far fewer in Japan. It could be also that I’ve heard all my life Europe being highly praised and glorified, and I feel “unworthy” to step foot.

And admittedly, I have not done much language study this summer. :( I’ve been busy packing for the late August apartment move, figuring logistics, getting rid of stuff, finishing an art project, and working full time. So I’m not sure how much Norwegian I will actually understand and spit out.

But since part of the trip’s goal is to see if I like Scandinavia, I will not stress about language use. It’s the first time I left the Boston area since the pandemic as well.

Also, I would love to see anyone that’s willing to meet up with me. :D I’m not going to be pushy and say “Hey! I’m in your neighborhood, let’s have coffee!” I will let you decide. If so, send me a PM!

Scandinavia or the Nordic Region consists of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, as well as the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland. It is over 6 million square kilometres. If you want people to meet with you I figure you'll need to narrow down the geographical area a little more. :lol: :lol:

Vær så god:

I’m in Copenhagen until the 10th, then I will take trains to Jutland and catch a ferry to Oslo, to arrive on the 11th. On the 13th I’m taking a plane to Stockholm for a few days, then flying out of Copenhagen the 18th.

I thought that didn’t look right. :? During my introvert time I’ve been studying Norwegian on this trip. :)

Let's not forget the Norwegian claimed area of Antarctica, I'm sure that's the most easily accessible part of, ahem, Scandanavia, right? :lol:

Clarification from the Norwegian (learning) perspective with a touch of Wikipedia for further clarification and details:

Scandanavia = Norway, Denmark, Sweden.

'Norden' (translation = the Nordic countries / Les pays nordiques) = Scandinavia (ie Norway, Denmark, Sweden), but also includes the Faeroe Islands and Greenland, due to both largely autonomous territories of the Kingdom of Denmark, being part of that Scandanavian kingdom.

Furthermore, Iceland, Finland and even Estonia (but Estonia often not generally accepted publicly to be included in the group) have been also included as Nordic countries due to historical 'ownership' of, conquering by, or mixing with the Scandanavian cultures.

In summary, I feel Scandanavia = Norway, Denmark, Sweden and the Nordic countries = Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Faeroe Islands, Greenland and Åland (I'd never heard of this latter one before I read your post).
