Whoops this is technically my entry from yesterday coming into today. I had training at work and barely had a chance to breathe.

German
Listening to Peppa Pig in German
Listened to a German Pimsleur course.
Duolingo like always which is kind of just mostly maintenance.
Worked on German lessons on mangolanguages.

Icelandic
Just played drops for a bit that’s literally all I got to accomplish so far.

Oh yeah fun day so far welcome back to the language learning log!

German
I finally took the liberty to get the last 2 skills on my tree to level one and have received the golden owl. This means it's time to find other ways to learn German in the real world (which I think Busuu, mango, and pimsleur will help with a lot).
Listened to German Disney songs on my way to work.

One of the fun things is seeing how "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" is translated into various languages. I recall the German version includes the line "eyes like an eagle".

Another fun fact is that there are actually two different German dubs of The Little Mermaid (and thus two German versions of the songs).

Golyplot Oh my gosh yes I love listening to different songs I know in German. It's legit like listening to a whole different song and even sometimes has different lyrics. It's a blast! I didn't know that about Little mermaid I need to look into that very much so!

Honestly I've been packed today but German has been something I've been working on a lot today.
Did my duolingo tree review and made some more skills gold.
Listened to mangolanguages German lessons some more as a review.

If you want to see a really crazy dubbing story, check out the history behind European dubs of Attack No 1 and Attacker You!.


Apparently, the various dubs of Attacker You! was highly popular in Europe. They also created a new theme song for the Italian dub, which was also used for the French and Spanish dubs (with differently lyrics of course). The popularity led to them also dubbing the anime for Attack No 1, a completely unrelated, decades old volleyball manga. However, the European dubs changed the character names to make the later seem like a sequel to the former, despite there being no connection in the Japanese versions.

Attacker You! was not dubbed in German, but Attack No 1 was. Interestingly, the theme song for the German dub of Attack No 1 uses the same melody as the theme songs for the Italian, French, and Spanish dubs of Attacker You!

Listened to Harry Potter und der stein der weisen on audible today during my trip and actually could understand a lot more then I thought I would.
Worked on Duolingo skill tree because I finished it but I want it all gold lol.

So focused primarily on German this weekend because of how busy I was.

I have been a slacker I'm sorry guys. So the last 3 days lets go over what I've done.

German
I have the golden owl on Duolingo now and want to take the busuu test for a certificate.
I helped some of my friends translate German on things they didn't know what meant.
Again continued to listen to Harry Potter in German.
Read along with the audio book of harry potter in German.
Been trying to make up sentences in every day life but I'm not so great at German grammar just meanings.
Looking on getting an email pal in Germany.
Did a few German pimsleur lessons.
Listened to German mangolanguages lessons.

Icelandic
Honestly should be working on it more then I am.
Listened to half of a pimsleur lesson today but I'm so tired I didn't understand any of it so I'm hoping to start it over tomorrow.

Spanish
As I am just maintaining spanish now I decided to go through all the spanish lessons on Duolingo to get the gold owl in spanish. It will take a while but it will be worth it.
Translated some books and things my friends needed help with that were in spanish.
