Having taken a slightly longer break than I should have, begun to de-rust last night.

24/08/2021:
Hugo Dutch in 3 Months - Lesson 1 completed

Quite a dry course, but does a good job of preparing you for writing more coherently. I have 250 days(ish) until the next round of CNaVT exams, and I want to take (and hopefully pass) that B1 exam.

Will be supplementing with extensive reading, some slightly less extensive listening and want to complete Linguaphone Dutch, Hugo Advanced Dutch and Colloquial 2 before May.

Dutch A2 exam breakdown:

The passmark using the CNaVT formula was given as 350 (out of approximately 900 points - the best score was around 920), my score was 634. I'm not totally sure how the formula breaks down but I'm not complaining.

I scored perfect marks on the listening section (30/30), only dropped one mark in speaking (29/30) and dropped three in the writing (43/46).

25/08/2021:

Watched a few A0-A1 level Dutch videos from the YouTuber "Learn Dutch with Kim" just to get my ears tuned to Dutch sounds again (I'll blast through the A0-A1 stuff in days and move onto the more meaty A2-B1 stuff quite fast I imagine)

Completed lesson 1 of Linguaphone Cursus Nederlands. Not a totally brutal lesson by any stretch, although I can see things ramp up quite fast so I'm ready for that.

Will do some reading before bed too (short stories in a bilingual book most likely.)

Also, by happy coincidence, was browsing Youtube videos for a clip of Ryan Crouser (the new shot put world record holder) and found a clip of him with Dutch commentary that caught me by surprise - I can pick out some familiar terms, but I'm still learning my sport terminology in Dutch:

*Apologies for the significant number of edits I made to the post, was struggling a lot with the Youtube embed*

Up to 10/10/2021:

Completed Linguaphone Dutch 1-7, watched around 1 to 2 hours of Dutch content on Youtube (mostly at beginner level) and read through around 10 stories in a bilingual Dutch reader.

Not been great at tracking progress but I've had an extremely busy month (back to school, lesson planning, marking, illness, non-language study for my university, etc.) so not much time has been dedicated specifically to language learning. Hoping to stay a bit more robust and get around 200-300 hours in before May when the next round of CNaVT exams will be held.

EDITED: some minor additions.

Completed Linguaphone up to lesson 10 plus lesson 1 in the supplementary material (which was surprisingly quite challenging in terms of audio speed.)

Looking forward to lessons 11 onwards it seems like the course ups the ante quite a bit, so will probably stretch me to early 2022 to complete. Which suits just fine and means I should be in decent linguistic shape by the time of the exams.

It's been a real struggle to keep myself on track to the point I've neglected my log for about six months. I've been slowly coaxing myself back into studying Dutch though.

Completed chapter 1 of Hugo Dutch, read 12 chapters in a short story Dutch reader and watched around 2 hours of Dutch YouTube content in the last week.

It's not much, but I need to get back into things.

Completed Chapter 2 of Hugo Dutch - aiming to get through one section every three days (so would complete it in approx six weeks instead of three months)

Getting back into things is helping me get enthusiasm back - really hoping to get that B1 certificate in 2023

Officially made it halfway through Hugo's Dutch in Three Months after having to take an extended break for other exams.

Also starting a small side project in another language (which, for now, shall remain anonymous...) but I'm more than willing to kick it out should it cause any issues with my main studies.

How useful are you finding Hugo Dutch?
