Do you find tracking the time that you study as opposed to writing about your studying is more helpful?

Goals Through 01/24/2021
  • Minna no Nihongo - Lesson 4
    • Main Textbook Drills
    • Main Textbook Exercises
    • Shokyu de Yomeru
    • Choukai Tasuku
  • Kodansha's Hiragana Workbook
    • Lessons 4-8*
  • Kodansha's Katatana Workbook
    • Lessons 4-8*
  • Programmed Intro to Literary Japanese - O'Neill
    • Section I - General pgs. 1-5

Ok, I've experimented with not posting my progress here for about a week, and it worked ok, but I feel like it might work better posting more often (but not necessarily daily). I got through a lot of the katakana workbook this week, but not much of the hiragana workbook. I feel ready to move on and just start picking up Minna no Nihongo again though, so I'm gonna move away from the kana workbooks (unless a tricky kana shows up). I feel like I've gotten enough of the basic stroke order down that I should be fine with most (if not all) kana that I end up needing to write in MnN and beyond. I needed most of the work to be done on katakana reading practice anyway.

Unfortunately I did not get much of a chance to do anything to complete lesson 4 of MnN, but I will tie up that loose end this week as well as moving on to lesson 5. I'm going to have a few bonus days off this week, so I think I might be able to move into lesson 6. But no big deal if I don't.

As far as Bungo is concerned, I've completed Section I, and so far I am liking the textbook! It reminds me a bit of Biblical Hebrew: A Text and Workbook by Kittel, et al. in that it is very inductive. I find this approach fascinating, and easier to digest that the reference grammars passing for "textbooks" that are the usual fare for Classical Japanese. I'll start moving into Section II - Pronouns this week.
