It's the Gear Acquisition Syndrome, very popular among amateur photographers or musicians, and that consists of accumulating in a compulsive way all sort of equipments to improve one's technique.
Of course, the experience proves that the GAS doesn't help at all to improve oneself, it just lightens the wallet.
When I was learning russian, I had several severe crisis of GAS, "gasing" immediately when entering a russian or language bookshop.
Hopefully, now I know better, and I sold my heap of unread books on the second hand market, and basically decided to stop buying language books....except when a relapse happens surreptitiously and that the GAS hits again

I know that syndrome only too well! Each time I buy a new French book I promise myself that this is the last one until I finish the one I'm working on. I think I need a twelve step program to stop buying books.

I must give you a lot of credit Arnaud. I could never sell any of my books. I'm also a book hoarder.

But if you sell your books, how will you acquire knowledge by osmosis?

That's why e-books are the blessing/curse (delete as appropriate) of the book hoarder. If all the stuff I have on my Kindle were transformed into physical hard copies, my living room would be buried in books. As it is know, I can take my whole library with me in my pocket, and each new acquisition does not take away any space at all (except some bits or bytes on my device). 8-)

I read them in Norwegian. They have rich vocabulary but they are quite down to earth, it is useful vocabulary. You seem to keep being attracted to Jo Nesbø's works, Arnaud, why not go for some Norwegian as well? :D
