Mikael Persbrandt, the actor who played Erik, the hypnotist looked vaguely familiar. IMDB has reminded me that he was in the "Beck" series, that BBC4 showed some of. I didn't recognise any other actor.

(I now realise I forgot to watch "Dicte" on More4 on Friday, and will have to "catch up").

Needless to say, we discussed the referendum, using an article from Die Welt as our focal point:

Quite an interesting article, with which I only agree up to a point.

Edit: Finally finished "Leibhaftig" von Christa Wolf. (184 pages, but they only have about 200 wpp. I calculate it's equivalent to about 127 pages at my "standard" pagination of 300 words, which is what I shall record). My copy is from 2002, 2003 from Luchterhand ("Samlung Luchterhand" series). I can't say I enjoyed this book. It has no chapters and just rambles on. It is about a woman who is seriously ill in hospital and drifts in and out of consciousness, and the story is told in a "stream of consciousness" way. Not really my thing at all. But I felt I should stick with it. It is set in the obviously very significant period of the last months of the DDR (and written with the hindsight that these were the last. I'm sure there are subtleties and metaphors that I am missing. Perhaps another one to come back to one day. Next on my personally assigned list is "Nachdenken über Christa T", which is another fun read (not). However, it's years since I read it (fairly haltingly, I am sure), so it will be interesting to see how I get on with it now.
