French: From A1 to B1 in six months.

Postby Linguarudo » Thu Sep 17, 2015 5:55 pm

So, my goal is to reach French B1 level in 6 months. Not only an imaginary level but
actually getting the Delf certificate.

I will study by myself.

A little about my history with the French language: I have studied French ten years
ago for one semester, since that time I have bought some books and I always had it in
the back of my mind that someday I would get to learn it properly. My mother language
is Portuguese, so the grammar is very similar, thank God! lol

First I will use Pimsleur and Assimil for a re-introduction to the French phonemes and
then will dive into studying grammar.

This log will serve as way to keep a record of it and also to connect with people that
have been (or are) trough this same road, maybe you have some tips for me concerning
how to study it.

I don't have any advice because I am new to studying (Spanish), but just wanted to say welcome and good luck!

Will you integrate language exchanges at any point?

Yes, but mostly through participating in internet forums in French and stuff like that. I also plan to participate in some activities promoted by Alliance Française here in my city, there are a lot of events there so I can somehow put the language into action.

Good luck to you too! :D

Bonne chance with this project, Linguarudo! Along somewhat similar lines, I plan to de-rust my French later this year through Assimil courses. I took French as an optional GCSE in high school for just a year, but that was over quarter of a century ago! So it'll be interesting to compare notes, and I look forward to following your language log. :)

Bonne chance pour votre projet.

I'm also using Pimsleur and I'm up to lesson eleven.

Bienvenue Linguarudo!

I am also learning French, and I look forward to following your log. I had good luck using Pimsleur and Assimil (I used French Without Toil).

Bonne Chance!

PS. We have Team Français thread if you want to join in the fun! ;)
