Salut Peter,

ohhh! I love quotes!

“Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out it alive.” – Elbert Hubbard

If dogs could talk, it would take a lot of fun out of owning one. — Andrew A. Rooney

Let every man sweep the snow from before his own doors, and not busy himself about the frost on his neighbour’s tiles.

No matter how busy a man is, he is never too busy to stop and talk about how busy he is.

He who eats when he is full digs his grave with his teeth.

There is no danger of developing eyestrain from looking on the bright side of things. — Attr. to Alexander Lockhart

Cavesa wrote:I wish you a lot of strength. I am extremely lucky for someone in the healthcare, I am really well "hidden" (but yeah, I was in contact with covid+ too, nowhere is totally safe), but you seem like you are not. It's not just about those in the ICU. Don't underestimate the situation, protect yourself as much as you can. I live in one of the most hit regions of France, and it is really happening, the danger is not exaggerated. Yes, I am scared about the future after this too, including travelling and free movement. But that's why we'll need a strong pressure on the politicians in every country. We must not exchange our freedom for false promises of security. As there is now a second wave of covid in China (good bye sweet dreams about herd immunity), such promises are false anyways. And we are seeing already how much damage are the closed borders doing too.

Thank you Cavesa, sincerely. These are very considerate, kind and thoughtful words. I do not believe I am in that high risk of a situation, but I have potentially crossed paths with positive patients it seems (I don't know who ended up testing positive or not at that stage as it was first presentations). And although I have been constantly in some kind of confused state trying to work out the truth behind this whole thing, I've stuck to strict precautions including upon my return home to the family after work. You're absolutely right about strong pressure on politicians and I must say although the virus is something to be very careful with, I'm more concerned about the proposed solutions current or future and I am concerned that this situation has been either created or is simply being used as an opportunity to socially engineer the masses to the desires of the elite and how people should be controlled. Mr Gates needs to *** the f*** up and stop trying to run the planet. Enough said.

Cavesa wrote:As I said before, I find your choice of languages great.

Thank you. I have recently cut back to only French and Dutch, but I'm wishing I had the time for both Norwegian and Spanish currently. My daugther continues to resist Dutch somewhat and my wife has never been a huge fan of the language. I love it myself, but I wish I had the time to put into the NO and ES as well and teach my daughter NO so as to follow along the lines of some homeschooling philophies of following the interest of the child. We'll see what eventuates there.

Cavesa wrote:Don't forget to also read something by the Russian opposition or random citizens and healthcare workers. Nope, they are not doing fine, they are not handling the pandemia better (it just started later) and they are not any freer than us.

That does not surprise me, actually. However, nothing like an excuse to want to know more languages!

Cavesa wrote:The world will change, but we'll see. I wouldn't give up on any language, your dreams might actually be easier to achieve after this, as you are a nurse. Europe will be hungry for nurses and other healthcare workers, and it has even started rethinking some of the bureaucracy and economic strategies. Not all the changes will be for the worse.

You are right, but as you may or may not recall, I'm part of a minority with my views when it comes to health care workers and the world may change too much for me to either 1. go overseas and live for some time. 2. continue working in healthcare. Still, either way, I am certain I will pursue my dreams but I'm open to the fact that sometimes the stars/government/fate has other things in store for us.

Cavesa wrote:And multilingual people will be extremely important. More and more people are finally realising the power of the internet, to just listen to somebody with 1st hand experience with something, rather than just the filtered and translated news. We'll need languages in the months and years to come.

Yes, I hope you are correct. Still, I see the internet as a gift and a curse, but I do know what you mean.

Cavesa wrote:Take care.

You too! And thank you again! Also, I hope you're finding some time to delve into language learning! I'm not doing as much as I'd like lately, but I guess it's going to be like that at times in life, no big deal, there are other things to enjoy too!
