Spanish is a very popular language. And a lot of native English speakers.

Mr chobbs has an interesting project going on with Esperanto. Had I had any experience the language, I'd offer my support. Mr PeterMollenburg seems to be a very nice person checking up on fellow language learners and offering encouragement.

Wow! That's a great list. It's interesting to see what everyone is learning. Of course, it's probably out of date already. People are always picking up new languages.

Regarding Language Transfer, I used it for learning Spanish and found it to be fantastic. Very useful. I heard the Greek one had some sound problems, but they are releasing a new version soon, or maybe they already have. I don't know anything about the others, but I might give the Turkish one a try before my trip.

I've at least confirmed the languages they are listed under are actively pursued by their respective students. I've also crossed out ones they clearly indicated that they no longer study.

I'm leaning more towards learning Italian, but just looking at the abundance of all these great learning materials for Spanish, free and otherwise, I'm very tempted.

brilliantyears mentioned his/her trouble with getting language specific recommendations and such in Goodreads. I wonder if s/he has tried 読書メーター. I don't read much, so I haven't used it or Goodreads for that matter and I don't know whether it suggests books based on the books you've read, but I'm guessing you can check what other people are reading. And the majority of the books will be in Japanese. The Japanese apparently consider comics "books".
Edit: S/he does know about it.

I didn't know Goodreads is owned by none other than Amazon. It certainly isn't a surprise.

Excellent list over our languages - it might be interesting to establish some mechanism that could generate and maintain such a list (and insert missing languages, like my English), but the present one in its current state has already given me a practical bird's eye view over the linguistic territory we cover.
