Isarin's log

Postby Isarin » Sun Aug 30, 2015 12:13 pm

Hello everyone!
Here is another try at logging my language learning endeavours. I've tried and failed twice before on the old forum, but luckily for me I'm better at making progress in the languages I study than keeping a log.

This is just a first post as a placeholder, I might expand it later. For the moment, I need that 3rd post so I can fill out my profile.

Goals:

I strongly believe in setting my goals too low to fail. A minimum of 2x5min of language study per day. I almost never fail and I don't burn out anymore. Also, I'm having fun.

Languages I study:
    French (since 2002)
    Japanese (since 2004)
    Mandarin (since 2008)
    Czech (since 2010)
    Italian (since March 2014)
    Spanish (since August 2015)

Week 1: 24.-30.08.2015

Week 1: 24.-30.08.2015

Spanish
Just started Spanish...
Resources I'm using:

Italian
I've http://www.internazionale.itset as my frontpage - I usually read 2-3 articles per day.
Exchanged some messages on whatsapp and facebook
Nothing for the SC yet...

Also, this really bothers me:

Maybe I'm just using them wrongly. I don't know...

French
Read a couple of articles on le Monde and Courrier International. Listened to 3 episodes of Geopolitique by France Inter (same stuff I've been doing for the last 6 years or so)
Trying to learn more about Brittany/Bretagne - drank some cidre, read some pages in a guide book
Nothing for the SC yet...

Japanese
Watched one video lecture and listened to one radio lecture on http://www.nhk.or.jp/kokokoza/
Exchanged some messages on facebook and line
Read a chapter in an old manga (Wasurerareta Juliet)

Czech
Read 10 pages in an Agatha Christie book
Did some revisions of old Assimil lessons

Mandarin
Nothing so far

That's it for this week!

Week 2 - 4: 31.08.-20.09.2015

Postby Isarin » Sun Sep 20, 2015 7:47 pm

Week 2 - 4: 31.08.-20.09.2015

I was very busy during the last 3 weeks, I moved and started a new job, so I had less time and energy for languages than usually.

Spanish
The 6WC ended one week ago, but I hadn't logged as much time as I wished for.
    - Assimil lesson 10-14
    - Duolingo
    - Language Transfer (track 15)
    - started FSI Headstart Spanish for Spain

Italian

French
I realized that I need to step up my pace if I want to finish the SC for French, so I tried to watch more this week.
Stuff I watched in French:
    - Devious Maids S1E2-13
    - Heroes S1E1-23
    - awkward. S1E1-12, S2E1-12

I finally went to my local institut francais on Thursday and got a membership there. I got a couple of BDs to read over the next weeks (Aya, Dantès & Carnets d'orient) + I now have access to the http://www.culturetheque.com/. Seems pretty nice.
