Japanese (half challenge)
Reading: 6.7 books, 333 pages (total)
1 5 pages

Watching: 30.3 films, 2,731 minutes (total)
23 minutes

I'm in a reading slump. Or rather: I'm in book limbo. I've got too many books going at the same time that are taking too much time (a 1300 page tome in Dutch, HP in Japanese, and a German book, among others) and it's making me a bit anxious. I am eager to read something different again (for fun, not necessarily for language learning). So errr, yes, not much reading done for the Super Challenge this week - I want to finish that 1300 page brick first.
It's an absolutely love book though! Het achtste leven (voor Brilka) by Nino Haratischwili, about six generations of a Georgian family. Also available in German, French and Turkish (no English).

I continued watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. And a bit of Revue Starlight, because it's relevant to all my interests  Not sure what to think about it yet, since shoujo isn't really my thing...

Russian (half challenge)
Reading: 0.8 books, 38 pages (total)
18 Jul 2018 Котёнок 1 pages

Watching: 27.4 films, 2,464 minutes (total)
78 minutes
21 Jul 2018 Нюхач s3e7 60 minutes
22 Jul 2018 Нюхач s3e8 60 minutes

We're reading Котёнок with our Russian study group (that we started to bridge the summer until the next semester starts). We're meeting approximately once a week for the rest of summer.
Related: I'll be signing up for next semester's course today :D Now let's hope we get enough students so it doesn't get cancelled...

Also listened to more musicals, discovered the beauty of Disney movies in Russian (Jungle Book, but no subtitles, unfortunately), and finished season 3 of The Sniffer.

For me it differs. Usually I read one book at a time, like:

book -> book -> book -> book -> book -> book

But sometimes I've got one longer/more difficult/more intense book + a few shorter ones on the side, so kind of like:

booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook
book -> book -> book -> book -> book -> book

Whereas right now it's more like:

booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook
booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook
booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook
book -> book -> book -> book -> book -> book

(don't you love my visualisation? :geek: )

Your visualisation is good, but it doesn't feature bishoujo and therefore I am extremely disappointed in you.

Other than that: Boooooooooooook. :geek: :geek:

I've started planning a little for the 6 Week Challenge. I want to keep my activities as simple as possible, yet with enough variation so I don't burn out.

I will be working on the following materials systematically:
    - Paspoort voor Rusland: This is our course book. I want to study ahead a little, as well as review grammar and dialogues of the past year.
    - Memrise: Study ahead for the upcoming semester. Perhaps around 10 new words a day, and keep up with reviewing. I've also been working on a new private course with words I picked up from wherever. I need to go through everything one more time and delete any unnecessary words before I start studying. I will also keep adding words over time.
    - Drops: Continue using drops for 5-10 minutes a day.
    - Lang-8: I want to see if I can write a short piece at least once a week (so six times in total).
    And...
    - iTalki: I should really, really start using iTalki to practice pronunciation/conversation... I'm getting plenty of requests to be language partners but I'm just too goddamn shy to take anyone up on it

And a little less systematically, aka 'for fun':
    - Movies, tv shows, etc.: Haven't made up my mind yet on which ones.
    - Russian study group: We've created a Russian study group with a few classmates to bridge the summer, and we'll be meeting a couple of times during the 6WC.
Hopefully lots of reading:
    - Stories in Easy Russian (A2 level): Finish this. Two more stories to go, along with some exercises. I'm pretty sure I'll finish this in no time when I make time for it, so I'm going to be looking for a replacement soon.
Russland in kleinen Geschichten: A Russian 'first reader' type of book I picked up in Germany that contains 33 short pieces about Russia and Russian culture. I just want to pick out a few stories that interest me and attempt to read them.
Erste russische Lesestücke: Another Russian-German 'first reader'. Same as above.

And by the time the 6WC is over classes start again :D Absolutely perfect timing.

Any tips, recommendations, advice? Other sources I should consider? It's my first 6WC and I'm pretty serious about it

You got this. That's more systematic than anything I've ever done.

Eh, I'm pretty tired this week. I blame the heat, the lack of sleep due to said heat, and just general lack of motivation to do anything. The one plus side is that the heat is keeping me up so long that at least I will probably finish The Brick (aka Het Achtste Leven (voor Brilka)) this week (I repeat: absolutely amazing book - might be my favourite read this year).

We had Russian study group on Tuesday though, so at least I didn't completely abandon my language learning. Another study group coming up on Sunday :)

I was a little too enthusiastic in joining the Language Jam. I just don't have the stamina for it right now, not even for 24 hours.

The 6 Week Challenge has begun, and I kicked it off according to plan with over an hour of Russian. Caught up with all my Russian reviews on Memrise, finished reading the story we picked for study group, and decided on a little Duolingo to finish it off. Not a bad start :)
