Oh I hadn't planned which bus exactly, I was just gonna show up as it's so close so I would see. But 9:50 sounds about right. Do these buses sell out because I haven't got a ticket
Wow, did I ever get lucky and buy that ticket

If they're cheap, then they probably do - but I managed to snag one of the last three tickets. So see you on the bus then.

You mentioned your iTalki profile a while ago so I'm sure I've seen your photo I'll send you a pm with mine, just so it's not creepy one-sided recognition

So did mine, but for different reasons (running has been surprisingly bad for my general shape )

Re: brilliantyears' language log: 日本語 + Русский focus
Soooo I'm back from Bratislava. I had a really good time at the Polyglot Gathering and really regret not staying longer. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the experience was pretty amazing and I definitely plan to go again next year!
It was so easy to talk to people (those badges are brilliant), and I met a lot of awesome new people. I even found a language partner for Russian (score!). As for language practice during the gathering:
- I spoke a little (shitty) Russian.
- I spoke a lot of German. I don't have any romance languages so German was the language I had in common with most people. My German pronunciation is (exactly like I expected) completely scheisse though. Classic steenkolenduits.
- Everyone was so goddamn happy to speak Japanese that I ended up speaking it a lot more than I had expected (including at least half a day with a native speaker)
- Considering there weren't that many native speakers, everyone was also super happy to speak Dutch with me.
- My English went downhill fast (I swear I'm fluent, I swear)
I'll write a little more about the rest of the gathering and the ideas/strategies I picked up later.

You're fluent in English. I don't know why you speak it with me, though...
