For listening I would strongly suggest lectures of Μαρία Ευθυμίου (especially those about the Post-Byzantine Greek history). Apart from her knowledge she's a very entertaining lecturer:

1) Read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (pages: 121/358)
+20

2) Keep making memes (done: 106)

3) Listen some more (11 hours, 20 minutes)
+1 hour

Even though the last two days were awful, I've still managed to focus and get the work done, so I'm happy about it. I also did download an app Boosted, which counts the hours spent on certain projects among other things, so I'll share the numbers at the end of the month. I always have a feeling that I'm doing very little, so it's nice to actually see some proof that it's the opposite. And while that app is running I feel less inclined to take a break and I'm more focused. I'm also trying out binaural soundtracks that are also supposed to help during studying. It doesn't help tremendously, but it doesn't distract me like my usual music does and it's way better than sitting in total silence. So we'll see.

Hello back!
The last week surprised me with guests staying over and having lots of fun outdoors in general, so I was hardly ever home. And when I was home, I was too exhausted to do anything. But now I'm getting back to work. I feel very motivated to finish the Chambers of Secrets somewhere in September. I officially consider this my goal.

I've also read some posts here on the forum that made me think a bit about languages in general. I've realized that there is no point for me in trying to gain fluency in Greek (although that would be nice), since I'll probably never move abroad or have much contact with any natives anyway. So yeah, I'm learning languages just for the sake of it, becouse I find it enjoyable... And that kind of made me feel relieved? I didn't think I felt any pressure, but now I see in hindsight that I was stressed out a bit. As if there was some kind of an exam waiting just around a corner! So now that I'm sure I'm learning Greek for myself and myself only, that I don't have to master it as soon as possible AND that it's okay to do things purely for the joy it brings, I feel way better. Hopefully this mindset will lead me further :).

1) Read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (pages: 171/358)
+30

2) Keep making memes (done: 113)

3) Listen some more (12 hours, 40 minutes)

1) Read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (pages: 201/358)
+20

So not only am I reading faster – although the two things might be connected – but I also tire less during it. It's a bit silly that "just" reading in another language can be so exhausting, but I guess staying focused and trying to uderstand what's going on takes a toll on one's brain. My brain though seems to be getting used to Greek and I couldn't be happier <3.

On another note, I'm sure I wrote it somewhere before, but ohmygosh Harry Potter is so delightful? I read that as a kid and I was amazed, but usually whenever I reread my favourite childhood books they turn out to be a bit bad and cringe worthy. It's great to be surprised in such a positive way!

2) Keep making memes (done: 117)
+4

3) Listen some more (12 hours, 40 minutes)
+20

I'm also doing a bit of French on the side, mostly on Duolingo. I'm trying to get used to the way it sounds and to get a general hang of how that language works. So far so good, but I'll be updating more when I'll switch to different learning methods (which will probably happen when I'll feel more sure with Greek). At the moment I'm mad at all those people that kept telling me that French is "such a difficult language, bordering on impossible", becouse I could have been already learning it, but oh well ;_;".

i'M DONE WITH MY SECOND BOOK! So, first goal completed. It went very smoothly, I had no issues neither with the book itself nor with the habit of reading (almost) every day. I read faster, I know more words, I've jotted down all interesting sentences for future reference, all in all, it was a blast.

My third book is going to be the third part of Harry Potter, so no surprises there, but all the next parts I'll leave for different languages (I'm looking at you, French!). I kind of made Harry Potter something of a rite of passage for languages, haha. I also have some Greek comic books... maybe a small break from Potter might be good? Well, we'll see how I'll feel about that tomorrow.

1) Read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (pages: 301/358)
+20, +20, +17 = DONE

2) Keep making memes (done: 136)
+3, +0, +5

3) Listen some more (14 hours, 30 minutes)
+30, +20, +60

So the last week and a half I took it slow. Very slow. But I do usually try to look on the bright side so let's say it's for preventing a language burnout, okay? A small break. This of course doesn't mean that I was completely idle... just that I was doing less.

1) Read a new book!
I solemnly swear I'll start reading tomorrow. Please keep me accountable.

2) Keep making mems (done: 144)
+16
I've been trying to make at least one mem per day and it's going okay. Today though I did none, becouse it was a test day (finally)! That means that I tested myself on the vocabulary on the production side, so from PL/EN to GR.
I scored 66%.
This might not seem like a big deal, since 66 isn't an impressive number, but! Production is always harder for me AND ever since I make a mem, I do not look back on it. So considering the fact that there was no reviewing included, I did pretty awesome! I remember reviewing vocabulary back in the past almost daily and my results were awful, so it is for me an enormous improvement. I'll test myself again in a month or so (and I'm already excited!).

3) Listen some more (15 hours, 50 minutes)
+10
I know, don't look at me. I'm being a bit lazy in this section, but hush. I probably should set a goal for myself, like listening to X minutes per week, but I have no idea what the number should be. I don't want to go too high, but going too low hurts my (small) ambition.

I'm also doing French on Duolingo, almost daily. I'm having fun.

In overall, I'm very happy with my progress and I'm still so excited about learning. I have no idea where this motivation comes from, but it's still here. Learning languages might be my favourite hobby, I think, since it's so stress free and not very frustrating. I'll have to figure out how to make my other hobbies be like this, too.

1) Belzebubs (0/127) and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (0/459)
+127, +21

Belzebubs is a wonderful comic book from a Finland author, JP Ahonen, that somehow got translated into Greek. You could imagine my surprise when I've learned that my favourite web comic will be released in a Greek version as well! I had to order it at once. It's about a family a bit similar to the Addam's Family, only modern and more into the black metal. It's pretty great.

BUT it was a bit of a tricky, if not difficult, read. I forgot that in Greek comics all the letters are capital letters, and I'm not used to that. The second thing was that it's not a continous comic but a series of comic strips, so there was no guessing from the context. Either I knew the words or I didn't. Suprisingly, the drawings were not always helpful. I'll definitely come back to this comic somewhere in the future; it'll be great to check my progress with it.

So now I'm back to Harry Potter! It feels like coming home, in a way.
