I read each chapter in english, then read and listened in German.

This book is the third in a five book series called the Chronicles of Prydain. I bought an omnibus edition of the first three books "Taran - die dunkle seite der macht" (ISBN: 3570131963). There is amateur audio for all the books on YouTube.

(The books seem to have been published under two different titles in German, hence the two titles above.)

Plays don't have a lot of text per page, so the page count might be deceptive.

I'm not looking up anything in the German. I just read along with the audio, and hope my brain will do some pattern matching magic with the jumble. :-)

7. Effi Briest by Theodor Fontane, 364 pages. Running total: 364 + 895 = 1,259 pages

I read each chapter in english, then read and listened to the german.

The english text I used from Gutenberg.org was an abridged version, that shortened some chapters more than others, but it was good enough. I got the audio from Librivox.org, but the Goethe eLibrary offer some too.

How did you like Effi Briest? I have the audio and text both sitting on my hard drive and haven't been sure where to place it in my "to-read" list. Should I prioritize it?

Slow start, but I ended up liking it. It's not a cheerful book though, Baron Munchhausen might be a more entertaining choice.

The next thing for me is going to be a short story: Die Sterne

8. Westwärts mit der Nacht, by Beryl Markham (ISBN: 3492236693). 314 pages, running total: 314 + 1,259 = 1,573 pages

I've read this book several times in English, and once in French, so I was familiar with the story.

My local library has a copy of the English audiobook on cassette, so I thought I might try combining the English audio with the German text. I had a trial run with the french audio, and German text for Alphonse Daudet's Les Étoiles, but I found combining the two required a lot of concentration, so I didn't pursue that for the book.
-----------
Looking for a CD audiobook, I searched worldcat.org for:
    TITLE: West with the Night
    AUTHOR: Markham
    FORMAT: Audiobook
Much to my surprise this produced results for translations, as well as the original English.
Danish: Med natten mod vest / Med natten mod vest
    Finnish: Yön yli länteen
Swedish: Västerut i natten : mitt liv i Afrika : roman
(It also brought up a french language audiobook, but that seems to be an in-house copy for the Canadian association for the blind, and not available elsewhere)

If so, you should read Im Stahlgewittern by Enst Jünger. It is a real experience of that war. I read it in Polish but used some fragments for my book about the battle on the Somme. Jünger had a romance with the nazis, and that is the reason he is not popular. I can forgive him that as I forgive him a romance with the communists ;)

Thank you for the suggestion. My local library has that in English, and gutenberg.org have it German, so I'm on board :-)

9. Der eingebildete Kranke by Molière. 118 pages. Running total: 118 + 1,573 = 1,691 pages

I read each scene in french (la malade imaginaire), then in german, then I watched an amateur German stage performance. etc.

Mr Molière almost died while performing this play.

10. Im Stahlgewittern by Ernst Jünger, 301 pages. Running total 301 + 1,691 = 1,992 pages.

I read each chapter in English, then in German.

I was able to get an English text from my local library, I got the German text from Gutenberg.org. The Goethe eLibary offer this both as an eBook and an audiobook.

Several books/writers got a passing mention including:
