I thought that I would start a log if for no other reason than to document, for myself, my progress, or lack thereof, in learning French.
I learned French in school up to GCSE level in the late 80's, but hadn't done anything else with it since. on a whim late last year I picked up my French & English copies of Camus's 'L'étranger' & started some very slow reading.
I just took the Dialang (https://dialangweb.lancaster.ac.uk/) level tests to provide a baseline. I'm not sure how accurate they are in CEFR level terms, but hopefully it will provide a datum of sorts to measure my progress:
Listening: B1
Writing: A2
Reading: B2
Vocab: B2
Structures: B1
I don't have any strictly defined goals other than wanting to improve. I'd like to be able to read a French newspaper, watch French TV shows & hold a conversation in French. and perhaps to prove that not all Brits are monolingual.
