have you ever considered the word query plugin?? There's fast word query but i'm too lazy to switch over lol. All you have to do is install the plugin, then go to tools -> word query/fast word query -> select dict folders (you just select stardict dictionary folder for the specific dictionary so you have to repeat this process however many times depending on how many dictionaries you're gonna use) and then set up the search field and dictionary fields for the card type. I absolutely love using it because it saves me a lot of time. I usually make anki cards while watching talk/variety shows (I'm currently watching mix9 and each episode is nearly 2 hours so it's like i'm watching a movie lol) and I tend to save all the lines with the keyboard shortcut when I"m watching a drama/movie on potplayer to add to anki later (since it only saves subtitle 1, if I want the english translation, i type it out on notepad++). I also use it to batch look-up words I collected from readlang.com. It only works for unconjugated words for the most part. One of the dictionaries does include inflections but it's not that expansive.

I shared links to the stardict dictionaries and lingoes dictionaries (converted to stardict FORMAT) on my blog
https://choronghi.wordpress.com/2019/03 ... n-ereader/
It's the second mediafire link.

I also added the link to my holy grail anki format post

word query and fast word query

As for dumping stuff into external.db I was thinking of dumping scripts into this site https://anatolt.ru/t/del-timestamp-srt.html
after watching episodes of stuff then update the external.db when I know all the stuff I mined from those episodes have already been seen.

thanks so much for sharing your efforts! that autohotkey script is very handy because I do have 2 huge decks of just words and definitions & sentences with translations (about 30,000) that I pulled from a Japanese site so it's definitely worth adding words to the priority.txt to add to the database .db file.

recently I found out this korean dictionary website lets people download their whole database so I made it into stardict dictionaries and I ended up with over 900,000 entries. I made one stardict dic where it only generates the korean definition and another one with more info like pronunciation, hanja, and other info since I like putting the definition on the front. It has limitations with homonyms since when I made it, I set it up so that if there are multiple entries with the same sound, I just kept one of them since wordquery only inserts one of the entries anyway even if there are multiple that match. I had to use anki to make the stardict dictionary since I can't manipulate a file that huge on excel. This dictionary file definitely has better coverage than the koreankorean dictinoary (147,000 entries) on the stardict site since it has so many more entries. The definitions from the huge k-k dictionary is different from the one I fetch from the Hanseido plugin so it was worth my effort. I was half-worried in the beginning that it'll take forever to run wordquery with this dictionary but I don't notice any significant difference in time.

It was one of these two sites that lets you download their whole database if you sign up and login.

Thank you!! I found out that you can download entries from that dictionary a while ago too but I used it for grammar instead, i tried to download the entire thing but I gave up since I couldn’t edit the spreadsheet without it crashing so thank you!
