Question on Spanish sentence

Postby Kraut » Thu Dec 20, 2018 1:25 pm

I think I understand this sentence:

"Se me ha ido olvidando ir subiendo fotos de los trabajos que me llegan."

It has "ir + gerund" twice, expressing that something is going on slowly or repetitively.

Would it be correct to do the same with "llegan": ... que me van llegando?

How natural would such a sentence sound?

As far as grammatical correctness goes, both the original and your modification feel good to me.

There are likely some people who, on purely stylistic grounds, would modify both sentences to something with less repetition of gerunds. This could also be expressed as "se me ha olvidado subir fotos de los trabajos que me llegan" with not much of a difference in meaning.

Another sentence that puzzles me:

Las fotos que nos muestran intuyen una posibilidad de estancia inmejorable y relajada.

Should it not be something like:

A travez de las fotos se intuye (uno intuye) una posibilidad de estancia inmejorable y relajada.

I wholly agree with you. Your version sounds much better than the original, which uses "intuir" in a strange way.

How do natives expain the use of "ser" and "estar" in this sentence?

(Hotel receptionist to guests leaving)

"Como ha sido vuestra estancia, han estado bien ?"

That's interesting, I sometimes make this spelling mistake and thought it was just me. I wonder what causes it. Interference from "vez" maybe?

I accept both ha sido and ha estado for the first verb. Estar bien 'to have a good time; be doing fine; be healthy' is an idiom; you can't say *ser bien in any context at all.

and a new one:

" ....en el suelo al lado del balcon una mancha de cera que se llevó alli sin limpiar los 4 dias que estuve."

I have no idea how to interpret "se llevó".

That's a quite unusual (for me) and non-standard use of the word. I think it means "permaneció" 'remained'.

And a new one:

eran dos camas unidas que en cuanto te movías un poco acababas en el suelo por lo endebles que eran y lo mal que se ajustaban unas a otras

Is "lo endebles" que eran correct?
Could you also say "por su endeblez y lo mal .....
