I have been dividing my studying time in 15 minutes slots for many years. A few summers ago - I think it was my summer vacation - I did pushups, squats and the likes after each 15 minute slot. Not many, more along the grease the groove lines. It felt great. (As you may have guessed, the regimen lasted only a few days. )

Finally got around to watching it. The part about having a specific place to study stood out to me--I have a time (that I haven't been the best at lately) but I study at the same desk I do a bunch of things at--work, browse the Internet, play video games, read, do a million other things. I generally use my computer to listen and view a pdf of the course (be it Assimil or FSI) while I study but now I'm pondering ways to design a specific space for this...

I originally thought the 15 minute suggestion was a bit over the top, considering I like to do an entire Assimil lesson in one go. Then I realized I end up taking a break about halfway through and browsing Twitter or this forum. The Professor knows...

Today, when everyone is about language hacking and what not it's so refreshing to hear about language learning as a spiritual exercise.

PS. This inspired me to reread Pierre Hadot's Exercices spirituels !

About two months ago, perhaps early December 2021, Professor Arguelles posted a tongue-in-cheek video that dealt with the affliction known as "Polyitis". I believe the video is embedded above. Central to the cure of Polyitis, he prescribes to work with French and German for 15 minutes each, twice a day. I went through the comments on the video, and also in this thread, and i did not see much comment about this "cure". Do any of the regulars here believe that this is a viable approach?

Thanks,
Tutescrew

It sounds like it will add fuel to the affliction.
