Hello everybody.
I've been interested in languages since I was a teenager, but lack of direction and low quality language instruction resulted in little success.
After meeting several polyglots last year though, my motivation has been reignited and I'm doing my best to improve in the languages I dabbled in in the past.
Looking forward to many discussions :)

Hello everyone :)

I'm a native English speaker living in NYC these days. I studied French in school, lived there a bit, but haven't kept up with it much.

Joining here as a many-years-ago HTLAL lurker, as I brush up on French and learn Spanish starting from a super beginner. Learning the differences between the two is pretty interesting!

Hello,

I started my language learning journey back in 2019 and accelerated my immersion activities during the pandemic. I’m at a point now where I can read native text, understand newscasts, and have shallow conversations with natives. I still have a long way to go so I’m excited to be a part of this passionate community where we’ll have several opportunities to motivate and support each other! Enjoy the journey!

Hi everyone! I've already started posting a log in the language log section of the forum, but thought I'd introduce myself here as well. I'm a native English speaker from Canada. I'm primarily focused on learning Tagalog right now as a total beginner. In the past, French has been my main focus and I'm trying to maintain my B1-ish level for the time being. But I'm planning to start studying it again more actively over the summer.

This seems like a really great, supportive community and I'm glad to have found it!

Just don't mention the Esperanto.... I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.

Ha, sounds like there's some history there! (I simply won't mention that I've also dabbled in the Esperanto via French Duolingo tree, then.)
