Not my TL but this was stuck in my head forever:

I love Shakira, trust me. It's just this song was made fun of in Spanish class. I do have some good memories of pseudo-LRing it though as a teenager, listening to Latin Pop radio on Pandora.

I want to buy Morat's CDs soon, and maybe other artists. It's my car, so I aim to have it full of Spanish-language music. I'm always looking for recommendations. (I have a 20 year-old VW Bug, so I can't really use fancy tech. At least I don't think. So keep that in mind if you give me a rec, haha.)

I'm not a big k-pop fan, but I have some songs to recommend if you like. Only from a couple groups, though. Also, if you want to Spanishify your experience, there's always covers. Some aren't great, but there's this guy and this pair (who I think use autotune, but it's better than some of the other novices out there):

When I decided to get serious about Spanish, Gloria Estefan came out with her first album in Spanish- Mi Tierra. I bought the CD (remember those!) and the DVD. I memorized the lyrics. To me this album will remain her signature work at the top of her game.

When Brazilian Portuguese was calling me, I wanted to know Jobim's "Aguas de Março" I found the lyrics, an online language lesson about the song and I set out to learn it by heart while running. This version is sung by the legendary Jobim himself and the incomparable Elis Regina- the definitve version. Elis could sing the telephone book and it would be beautiful.

I hadn't done much with Haitian music until I heard Naika Richard sing "Papa Gede Bèl Gason". At the time, I couldn't find the lyrics, but I figured things out. I listened every day for almost a month. The song starts out sad and turns into an anthem. It's just so Caribbean!

In Catalan Global Voices introduced me to La Troba Kung Fu and "Calor, Calor". I've got a long way to go with this one still, but I love the accordion!

Hebrew
אבירי שריון בחווה
Knights of the armour [armoured knights] at the Farm
It is about one armoured battalion which suffered heavy casualties during the battle of Chinese Farm. I listened to it a lot of it while writing an article about one episode of this battle.

Arabic
I don't know the exact title - on youtube it is أغنية حرب أكتوبر 1973 الخالدة
what Google translate as "The 1973 war song Eternal"
I heard name - بسم الله
[In the name of Allah]

I listened to it while writing the same article. It is not exactly about the battle of the Chinese Farm, but rather Yom Kippur war in general.
Comparing the two songs one might think, that the Jews lost the war...

In the year-and-a-half that I have studied French, it seems I love 1980's music the best. This is the first song I learned by heart over a year ago.

Desireless, "Voyage Voyage":

It is an AWESOME travel song that is always in my head.
"Voyage Voyage
Plus loin que la nuit et le jour."
Voyage
Dans l'espace inöui de l'amour..."

EDIT by Admin: I fixed your YouTube tags. You don't need the whole thing, just the bit after the equal sign.

That one does sound very familiar. I think maybe it was a UK hit too.

The only french language song I can really remember being a big hit in the UK was Vanessa Paradis' Joe le taxi.
